I was wondering if you guys know a place or organization in Switzerland, who collects old it equipment like computers, laptops and monitors and donates them for a good cause? I'm working on a project where we will replace most of the devices and will have some old ones, which otherwise would go to the recycling station.

Are there differences between ISPs (Swisscom, UPC, ...) and their routers/modems when it comes to port-forwarding, IP management and so on? Does anyone have previous experiences and suggestions, for which ISP I should go? Edit for update 11.2023: Init7 with the 777.- a year plan has the option to add a 20.-/month extra for a own public, static IPv4. This was too expensive for me, i gave up and went with the cheap Yallo something, which has the whole GC NAT shenanigans. I now hope for better ipv6 support in the comming years... Mostly by the fucking shit mobile shitproviders 😡😡, mobile data by all isps in switzerand has NO ipv6 support

Are there any Home Assistant users that track energy consumption in Switzerland? Most vendors recommended by the HA community do not provide Swiss plugs. Has anyone successfully integrated smart plugs or other energy devices with the Swiss plug?

Hi, I have an e-bike, and I am looking to do a longer trip with it, that will require charging it several times. I've been looking for a map of charging stations, but haven't found any. Most maps seem to be for cars instead. Is there anything available? Thanks!

Is it true that you can only cancel insurance contracts at the end of a calendar year? Do you need to send a registered letter? When? For telecom services (mobile, home internet), how can you switch providers without too much downtime and ideally without losing your phone number? Thank you!

Maybe you had on Reddit or an other platform or maybe you found something new here.

Was surprised to see a considerable Swiss flag on r/places (next to DICKS). Is it still active over there? Where is everyone at?

Did you find some good communities for sysadmin and/or programming? Would you be interested in having a community here on feddit.ch to discuss some sysadmin or dev related stuff?

I'm learning drawing from drawabox.com, reading and playing some video games. Might do a vitaparcour later.

I don't really like the way youtube has turned into a moneymaking cashcow with lots of ads.

Just saw a spectacular display in Zürich yesterday and I'm wondering for how long we will be able to see them. I mean, they are pretty terrible for the environment and the animals.. but they look and feel so good!

In a lot of places in Switzerland it is going to be hot this weekend, what are your 'tricks' to keep cool?

Hi, I've been wondering if any of you are subscribed to Ktipp? I've read that on top of the great consumer product reviews you also get free law advice if you're in need, which sounds pretty good for 8.- a month. Any thoughts?

Any cool life hacks to save money, have fun or anything that others might not know about, except the SBB half-fare ticket? I'll start with the TooGoodToGo app, which basically gets you restaurant food for much lower prices that you can pick up short before the stores close.

If yes, which one are you using and why? If no, why not?

- If you go by car: Why are other modes not an option for you (e.g. public transport)? What would need to be done for you to switch? - If you go by public transport: Are you faster than by car? - If you go by bike: Are you faster than by car/public transport? Do you still take the bike on rainy days? In general: How long does your journey take?

Alright the previous one was very easy. This one should be more of a challenge. Clue 1: near a city that hosts a movie festival Clue 2: same valley than 007 Bridge https://ibb.co/m9mp5cz (FYI all the picture are taken by myself)

I know it's against the law, but I found conflicting information regarding how likely it is to be enforced. So assuming you don't have a massive quantity of data upload, is torrenting some pirated (copyrighted) content relatively safe or not? Have you ever gotten in trouble for this (or someone you know)?

For everyone in here wondering about the missing communities from other instances, i hope to give you some insight. Each lemmy instance, like this one, acts as an server for multiple communities, posts and users. You can create a user, which lives on a specific instance and browse different communities through an instance. Normally, you only see communities from your local instance. If you're interested in other communities, you can look them up on the [lemmy community browser](https://browse.feddit.de/) (thanks to feddit.de) and later type in the link to a post or community into the search on the top right. *it always took me two tries to add a community, maybe a later update does this better.* After you found your community through this instance, you can subscribe to it with your user and create your personal frontpage. You may not see all the posts and comments after you added the community. This seems to be normal behavior.
