This time of year, there's a zillion of these loudly and clumsily zooming around right outside my backdoor. They're very curious about everything that moves; they'll just like *stare you down*, hovering a foot in front of your face. Too cute!! They are also kinda eating the landlords mudroom... but so slowly that I'm pretty sure it hardly matters? You just can't be mad at these little fuzzballs! Worth it for the pollination anyway.

Now that winter is starting up where I am, I wanna show my favorite image I took over the summer. I caught a butterfly on some leaves, and was able to get suprisingly close for this picture! You can even see the little hairs that transition from the wings to the body. I never really think of a butterfly as having any sort of fluff, but I suppose they do...at least a little!

I noticed a quite lovely funnel web yesterday morning! The maker was hiding of course, so I figured I'd lightly tap the web's edge with a piece of straw. That absolutely did the trick, and I was impressed with this little spider's speed with checking out the tiny disturbance! They explored the web for a couple minutes, and I tried to take some pictures to show off both the web and it's owner. I liked this one the most, so I'm sharing it with you all!

Saw this little one when I was out at a store, looks like goldenrod soldier beetle! Their coloration really stood out amongst the gray carts, so I was quickly drawn to them, and tried taking some close-up images!

It seemed to be doing fine as far as "racing over plants and climbing from leaf to leaf" was concerned.

My wife can't handle a spider that huge right on our window so I gotta move her. It's knocking down the web when she's not in it sufficient?

Parrots are overrated, I rather prefer a good Mantis

I took this a little while back with a macro lens I had on my old phone. I was amazed at just how close I got, there are lots of very visible features here that I'd entirely overlook seeing a grasshopper minding themselves out in the world. I'm appreciative they stood still long enough to take the picture, as you might imagine even some tiny movement would've made this a blurry mess.

A Red Spotted Purple, aka a Whirt Admiral, showing off the underside of its wings. Marked with reddish Orange spots over a gray to deep blue to black gradient. These butterflies use mimicry to blend in with more dominant species in their area. [This one is mimicking an Eastern Black Swallowtail](https://i.postimg.cc/ryxR8q5d/IMG-6040.jpg).

Perhaps _Tigrosa georgicola_?

A spider I happened to notice a while back while out and about. Its markings and size caught my eye, as it was very different from the spiders I typically see around here. I doubt they are rare, but it was new to me and I wanted to get a close up picture. It might not look particularly close, but it's a phone camera with no optical zoom. I was only a couple of inches from the subject and didn't want to disturb them.
