The festival also features multiple all-night dance club parties, several fairs with medieval, gothic, and related merchandise, a variety of cultural exhibitions and performances, large themed picnics, and a number of unofficial fringe events. -[wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave-Gotik-Treffen) > > > The "Victorian Picnic" on Friday afternoon in the park is an iconic event during WGT, especially for those who like to dress up in Victorian, steampunk, baroque or all kinds of neo/dark romantic styles. Hundreds of elegantly costumed people meet up in style for a dazzling picnic or stroll in the park! -[leipzig.travel](https://www.leipzig.travel/en/blog/wave-gotik-treffen-leipzig-guide) > > [backup link](https://inv.us.projectsegfau.lt/watch?v=8xJMqui3t6k)
From a couple SNL writers, so it seems appropriate to link to ad-ridden youtube. The best thing about this skit is the dozens of comments from people saying: yes, this is what goths are really like...

I have no idea how I managed to convince myself this could have been NIN: I'll blame the naΓ―vete of youth.

Side project of William Maybelline (Lebanon Hanover).
**(warning flashing lights in video)** The band are described as "glam-goth-industrial" which kind of hits all the sweet spots for me personally. But they deliver a kind of powerful pounding dystopia with enough theatrics and cool to be my favourite band at present. If I'm still finding new and interesting music to nourish my old goth tastes. I'm content in the strobe lights... Plus this is a live performance and it certainly doesn't lack power.
Dancefloor classic for a Saturday's night.

!goth@lemmy.mlthis is very broad umbrella goth community until we get enough content / subscribers to justify split, so
- tradgoth fashion, proper original 80s goth music
- goth adjacent music genres
- goth adjacent fashion/culture
- general macabre stuff
on top of the normal instance rules:
please make sure you add a NSFW marking for anything gorey (though Gorey is still fine :) )
please make sure links to material dealing with e.g. self-harm have appropriate content warnings
please be nice to each other. if you think something's stupid/bad, just downvote it and move on. if you think something doesn't belong in this community, messaage it to the community mods who will do any gatekeeping necessary. this means you should not be showing up in the comments to tell someone their post is not real goth.
