New Communities

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That's not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it's a ghost town and leave. If you have enough interest to create a community, you probably know *something* about the subject matter, so PLEASE add some posts (5-10 would be a good start). Maybe some questions to get people talking, even popular reposts from other sites. It sucks shouting into a void, but if you don't do it, everyone else will also be shouting into a void. Also please consider whether you *need* to create a community! When there are 100 million users of the site, there may be 1000 people who are interested in the same exact niche tabletop RPG as you, but there are <500,000 users here for now, so you'll be lucky to find 10. Consider creating a thread in a broader community (like boardgames) until you have enough people talking in the thread that it gets messy - *then* it's time to create a separate community. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

!alanmoore@feddit.uk For everything about the Beard Wizard of Northampton old and new. With his novel series starting and the Bumper Book of Magic finally about to drop it seemed like a good time to start.

[Gullfriends](/c/gullfriends@lemmings.world) lemmings.world/c/gullfriends Herring gulls live for 20 years, mate for life, and are intelligent social birds. This is a place to appreciate positive interactions with the little skwarkers. They are on the red endangered list in the UK and a protected species, so let's all be nice to them. *Never mind the crow bros, here's the gullfriends.*

Since lemmy.film went down, the only horror movie community is on lemmy.ml and is a bit quiet (possibly because it's on lemmy.ml), so, just in time for Halloween, let me present, for your spooky cinematic sights, your dark delights and your devilish delectations: !horrormovies@lemm.ee

!product_reviews@slrpnk.net Hey all, this is my first community and a work-in-progress. I've only got one post up so far but I tried to make it a good one. I'll be making some more when I get the chance. I'll gladly take any feedback you have, suggestions for the sidebar, etc., and would love it if you want to participate too. Thanks!

If any of the above speaks to you then I welcome you to !musicproduction@sh.itjust.works All knowledge levels welcome. Always wanted to make music but don't know where to start? I would *love* to point you in the right direction (and if It has to do with DAWs, synthesizers, or samplers I might even be able to! lol). Also, shoutout to [lemmy.studio](https://lemmy.studio/?dataType=Post&listingType=Local&sort=Active) and RIP waveform.social

Hello everyone, As you may know, recently I started a few threads on specific categories of communities - manual hobbies - video games - music - animals - art - fandoms - casual conversations - etc. Feel free to have a look at the recent threads in this community, most of them are there. We might restart that cycle at some point (maybe next week). In the meantime, do you think there is any topic which should have their own thread that we haven't covered yet?

A community dedicated to incredibly low quality facts. While the community is named after the mastodon account [Low Quality Facts](https://mstdn.social/@lowqualityfacts) it's not dedicated to that account and it's posts. All forms of low quality information are allowed! Either blatantly incorrect information, stuff that's so obvious that it doesn't need to be said, or something that's technically true but said in a terrible way. I've already posted a bunch there already to get things rolling so check it out! [!lowqualityfacts@lemmy.zip](https://lemmy.zip/c/lowqualityfacts)

I've just created !nosafetysmokingfirst@sh.itjust.works. It is similar to !dontdeadopeninside@lemmy.ohaa.xyz but the other way around. Text reads correctly left to right, but visual cues (like colouration or horizontal separation) lead you to try to read it top to bottom. Lemmy is a smaller site than Reddit, even before taking into account federation. So I cast a wide net here. A lot of specific popular shows like Futurama have dedicated communities, but I thought it'd be fun to have a generalized one https://lemmy.world/c/animatedseries
