I have a backpack that uses MOLLE webbing and a closed loop, similar to the one pictured, for the chest strap but I broke it. I've tried searching for terms like MOLLE webbing hooked loop and what not but can't seem to find just the loop. The item pictured was for a strap you can use to compress bags and they seem to be mostly available in packs. I've just been using a carabinier in the meantime.
I have cats. We typically buy fish or chicken, this is alls i seem to see. We are told cats love mice, so why cant we buy mouse flavour cat food?
after reading https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Keyboard and other sources I used a 75% isopropyl alcohol solution to clean my black and grey plastic notebook's keys and surface. I applied the alcohol to cotton pads. Each cotton pad I used came back black, completely black. This is the first time I use isopropyl alcohol to clean this notebook I bought it 8 years ago. To clean the surface I sometimes pressed the pad with my nails, because I first thought the black residue on the cotton pads was simply dirt and oils accumulated during 8 years. Now, on second thoughts, it could be the isopropyl alcohol solved the upper layer of plastic and now the clearer lines I see where I pressed with my nails are how the notebook looked 8 years ago. Lines look like an anarchic groove, but don't feel different to the finger. On other parts I can also see the circular motions I applied to clean those parts. Do I have to apply more alcohol or have I already damaged the plastic? OTOH I cannot believe wikihow and other sources like https://www.howtogeek.com/65073/how-to-thoroughly-clean-your-keyboard-without-breaking-anything/ would include information that hurts the computer. Am I doing this right?
I have been using an audio mixer at my desk for a while now so I can do things like listen to music while I play video games but I am wondering if Multipoint could replace my audio mixer and simplify my setup. Would it allow me to listen to two different devices at the same time? I have been reading about Multitpoint on websites selling compatible headphones (Jabra and Google) and it doesn't sound like this is the case. It sounds like it's simply a faster means of switching back and forth between devices. What makes me second guess this though are posts I have seen in forums suggesting Multipoint is the solution I am looking for. If not could some wireless DAC be the solution?
I have already been offered and officially accepted a gig which represents a continuation of a move towards work in a new sub-field for me that I really want to move in to, but it's just a short term contract like the many I've been doing over the years and afterwards I'll have to return to scrounging for the next gig after that with no guarantee of further success in that area (except hopefully doing well and getting more offers but nothing concrete). This gig won't start for a long time so I need to start filling the intervening time. I recently interviewed for another gig, which would be full time indefinitely, no more scrounging. It's a pretty great opportunity too, lots to like, but would likely represent an entrenching of my existing career path thus far rather than the move to the new one I've been embracing. Had this opportunity come up maybe a year ago I'd have grabbed it with both hands as I hadn't considered this other path but now I've begun on that new path I want to see where it can go. I think I did well in the interview and have a feeling I may be offered this full time job (not counting my chickens yet but it looks promising). That would be tricky though, the short duration, later-in-the-year gig will stretch just over 2 calendar months and I can't imagine getting that much time off from a brand new full time job in order to do the other one. It's a small town with a small industry, and it's a damn shame the timing couldn't have been reversed. If I were to accept the full time gig until shortly before the 2nd gig later this year and then leave to go do this short term but arguably more interesting contract job, is it likely to go over so badly that I'd get a bad rep locally for this? I could cancel the short term job but deep down I'm pretty sure it's the work I'd like to start doing going forward. I could decline an offer for the full time gig if presented with it, but I have nothing else going and should really take on some work. It's unfortunate that I likely wouldn't be able to just walk back in to the first gig any time soon if I left and I'd probably appear pretty unreliable to them anyway having done so.
A new hype ? Or are these sed (streaming editor) users in disguise ?
Stationary bicycles need support to stop from falling over because they lack gyroscopic stabilization. Right? If you ride a free bicycle on a treadmill (so both wheels are spinning) will it fall over or stay upright? If you fall over on a treadmill, does it matter if this treadmill bicycle combo is on a train?
I might also be thinking of a PeerTube instance. Focused on education. Does anyone remember the name? Thanks.
Flicking through the front page and around half of all posts have the world "rule" in the title. What's that about?
This is something I've always been really curious about, since a lot of chain restaurants and other food vendors tout their "secret recipe" as a selling point. KFC's secret 11 herbs and spices comes to mind as a fairly infamous example. Since they're secret, I assume they wouldn't show up on an ingredients list and would just have "herbs and spices" as a placeholder? If a customer is severely allergic to one of the herbs or spices, eats KFC, goes into anaphylactic shock and sustains brain damage from lack of oxygen due to their airways closing up, could the restaurant be liable for the injury?
Just something I'm curious about as I can totally imagine it happening in the real world. Let's say that Healthcorp is a medical services provider of some kind, and as such are required to keep certain records for a certain amount of time. They sign a contract with Archivetopia to keep safe all the records that they absolutely have to hold onto. However, the guy that used to work at GitLab got hired for Archivetopia, and he accidentally deletes a ton of entries from their database, which included Healcorp's records, and there is no way to recover any of it. Then, Healthcorp gets subpoena'd, so they call up Archivetopia only to find out they can't produce the records they need. Who is liable in this case?
Making an informed purchase is important. When looking for these products, they never specify what their contents are. Yet, I am a very heavy suspicion they are just isopropyl alcohol.
It sends me a verification code to log me in and says that it knows my email address but not my device, which is the same device that I have been using.
I started doing cardio for a couple of months, 3 times a week (25 minutes a piece), it was annoying and i really didnt like but sure whatever i pushed through the boredom. The REAL shit started when i actually worked out (we have workout machines in a nearby park), for almost 3 months im doing 20 minutes workout a day (5 times a week) and every. single. time. it feels like its getting more difficult to do than before. I always heard stuff like "it gets better over time" or "your body just needs to get used to it" but i dont feel anything like this, when im done i feel miserable thinking that i gotta do it again the next day, every single minute of workout i do feels so much longer than its actually is. Im not silly(hopefully), i know how to workout probably, i made sure to look it up beforehand so as to not break my bones or something and the machines clearly describe with a manual printed ON them how to use them. Is this it? is workout always gonna feel like shit? Am i just doing it wrong? Was the euphoria or adrenaline you are supposed to feel just a silly or or a thing i just dont get? apologies is this is the wrong community i just dont feel like there is any else i wouldnt be like, laughed out of
I want to create a live stream using AI voice changer and deepfake technology. I don't mind the avatar being realistic or anime. I don't need a VPN, and it's fine if the streaming platform recognizes me as long as my personal information isn't revealed to the viewers. I'm looking for recommendations on the appropriate technology for this. Since I have a 5700g APU and not a powerful computer, I prefer a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution.
For me, once they get past 1/8 of an inch (0.32 cm) long, I feel like The Wolverine.
My feed is blown up by posts from memes. Like, 80% of posts are all from memes. Regardless of how I sort. If sorted by new/hot/top/active, any combination, it’s ALL memes. Is there a way from the site, or any app that has the function to just reduce the amount? Or do I need to just block that community?
I am aware of the recent changes in the supreme court, LGBT and stuff happened in the U.S but everyone around the world is pissed even if doesn't affect them. Why? Just generally on social media such as YT, Reddit, Twitch. People are so angry about everything. Both the left and right have lost their minds, it's like polarizing echochambers. I'm just tired of this. Thankfully, these social platforms are dying which makes me happy. I just hope Lemmy doesn't go political in the future. For now, I love it because it's nostalgia to the old internet. Trolls, memes, fun. This is it. Although, I believe that the real average people are not like this irl.
Hey all. Apologies if this isnt the ideal place to be asking, am pretty new and couldn't find a space community. I'm a reddit refugee, and such have found extra time on my hands and am looking to delve into non-fiction space literature. Does anyone know a good community to ask this question? Or have any books they'd recommend? Cheers, really have been enjoying lemmy!
On that others site, rules for a given community would be in a sidebar or sticky. Is there an equivalent for communities that I'm missing?
Not 100% sure what my question is but this is what I want to do: I'm here: lemmy.sdf.org And I want to subscribe to this: https://rainy.place/m/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world And I'm not trying to go here: https://lemmy.sdf.org/c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.ml Possible?
I am finding the API documentation a bit difficult to figure out. I mostly work in C# so I am not very familiar with Javascript. I would love it if they had a swagger style document. When I request the posts from lemmy.ml is there a way to specify local vs all in the request? Nvm figured it out. Use the _type field to choose All / Local / Subscribed [Source Code Link](https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-js-client/blob/main/src/types/ListingType.ts)
I tried to open this community on another lemmy instance and it was empty, but on the original it worked. I am posting from the other one, let's see if it works...
I'm bored of just reading about north America. It's interesting but I'm sure equally interesting stuff is happening on all the other continents. Is there a way to internet, just browse for stories and opinions, but filtering out the overwhelming dominant subject. Lemmy was planning a tagging feature for a while. So posters would always tag language and country. So you could chose to only see things pertinent to your language and region. What happened to that? Americans only talk about a few things. And they all think the same way. It was interesting but I know enough about that now. How can I (easily and conveniently) discover what else is there in the world?
If there are no stupid questions then how do we answer the questions that really matter if we say that all questions are equal?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/371128 > Nursing an injury and found instructions on a skater site. The skater site said: "i know you won't go to a dr since you're a skater" Why don't they go to drs? > > I don't go to drs due to being poor.
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.perthchat.org/post/29780 > Surely we can't fight the military since they have tanks and planes. I mean, we could vietnam it at massive casualties, but that's pretty suboptimal. I'd rather do like lenin's build a militia strategy since at least a militia might have like anti air guns.
I read that women dress up because they like the way X looks, not usually to appeal to men. Not sure why men dress up. Which got me wondering.
keeping up with what is political correct is very difficult and it's easy to get cancelled. Which sounds like i'm sprewing rightwing bs, but if someone knows how to keep up with the trends let me know. (That isn't spend my life on twitter trending hashtags)

It's not like the hotplate doesn't work... from what I've tested. The unit has no stove or oven, just this hotplate
Like when he fixes a computer and says "see, not just a pretty mask" Or Bad guy pulls out big guns, and spidey says: "oh for me? you shouldn't have"
What is the best chan websites similar to 4chan?
A (series) hybrid car is technically the similar to a petrol car - they use the same compnents. But a hybrid is actually simpler to build, and higher performance. Why have manufacturers been concentrating on petrol-only cars for decades? In a petrol car, the petrol engine drives the wheels and the battery charger, and the electric motor just starts the engine. In a hybrid, the motor drives the wheels and the engine only charges the battery. This means your engine is much smaller and your motor and battery are bigger. Because an electric motor can deliver power efficiently over a high range of RPM, this also means you don't need a carburator or gearbox, and the engine design - the difficult part of car design - is much simpler. The whole system becomes more compact, more efficient, higher performance, and cheaper. Trains and ships have been series-hybrid for many decades. Why not cars?
