Already impacted. Unprecedented fires. Unprecedented floods. My home insurance is 5x what it was only five years ago.

When we add excessive amounts of it, it is definitely pollution. I think it's time to start talking about it as such.

Is it was so great, why did most of the conquered nations run west as fast as they could as soon as they could? Must have been because the USSR was so 'progressive'.

Just ask for a cardboard box. Supermarkets have masses of boxes which just go to waste or recycling. My local puts them near the checkouts for customers to grab.

Take people with low empathy and train them up in psychological manipulation and covert operations. Color me shocked that this happened.

In the interest of moderation transparency, we've had a couple of reports about this post.
Here's my thinking about it:
Community purpose
- This post is more political that would ordinarily be seen on AskLemmy, ⬇️
- it is an open-ended thought provoking question, ⬆️
- it is generating healthy and informative discussion and debate. ⬆️
Rule 1:
- the post is not trolling, sealioning, racist or toxic, ⬆️
- the topic is contentious but seems to be worded politely, ⬆️
- the author has voluntarily amended the question to be more sensitive in their framing. ⬆️
Rule 3:
- it does not fit the definition of spam or astroturfing ⬆️
On balance, I'm going to let the post remain up.

It’s a Portmanteaux of Lemmy and humans.
I had to help give CPR to someone recently, and their eyes were partly open. Got me wondering whether they were partly conscious while I was doing compressions.

I thought I'd give a quick update on the efforts to combat the spam wave. Clearly someone wants to make Lemmy a less appealing place to be. It's a deliberate attempt to spoil the good thing that we have going here. l'll leave it up to you to contemplate the motives and timing of this attack on the fediverse. So what are the Mods doing, and what can you do to help? The most obvious one is that we are deleting the spam as soon as it is seen. We are checking more often, but as volunteers we can't be on Lemmy 24/7. We also have some automated checking going on. This is working fairly well, but occasionally some legitimate posts are being removed. These get restored eventually, but sometimes it can take a while for this to be actioned. If this happens to you, please be patient. As users, we can help out by reporting spam posts and by posting quality content. Contributing to our community is the best way to make sure that it remains a safe, interesting and thought-provoking place.
I'm talking about the things that make you really excited.
We've implemented some basic controls to hopefully catch CSAM material earlier. As with any such control, occasionally there might be false positives. Unfortunately that's the price we pay....
We have temporarily locked posting on AskLemmy until the CSAM posting stops.
Hi everyone, had anyone played with alternative battery technology to try and bring the cost of storage down when weight and space are not an issue? Zinc bromine? Nicole iron?
