I agree with the conventional decor ruling out a lot of the merch. For me, the problem with keychains isn't that it clashes with my fashion. (my wallet is star wars themed, so fandom keychains fit right in), the problem is that I don't like the change out keychains very often. I need something where my favorite character doesn't change to often.
I'm a sucker for thing "from something" as well, I usually think of food not clothing though.

This is probably a good time for me to lay out a piracy policy:
If the game does not have a legitimate English version and it's older than 5 years, direct piracy links are allowed.
If a game did have a legitimate English version but is on a system that is no longer supported, that specific version is ok to post. For example, Hakuoki on the 3DS is allowed because the eshop is closed, but Hakuoki on the Vita isn't because the Vita store is still running.
I personally think that piracy makes it more difficult for creators to be fairly paid, but also that it is necessary for game preservation under current copyright laws.

Two scenarios came to mind immediately. 1. Merpeople. The MC is mermaid and LI's are all mermen, no need to turn it into a "the little mermaid" thing and bring in human LI's. Bonus, all the LI's are shirtless all the time. 2. A Coven. The MC is part of a longstanding coven and has grown up as a witch. Dating presents a dilemma because she can't let her potential partners know she's a witch until she can trust them, but it's hard to date someone when you're hiding being a witch.

That would be fun. Otome is currently a niche genre that doesn't have a lot of money behind it, which I think is why we get mostly visual novels. but I don't see why it shouldn't. Are you picturing a Zelda-esque game that combines fighting mechanics and romance, or something with unique gameplay mechanics?
If you could dictate a premise for an otome game what would it be? I want a game set in modern day where you play as the kick-ass CEO of a big company. She's remained single to pursue her career, and now that she's settled into being CEO she has time to date.

Learning to drive. I've met a few people who didn't learn to drive until their late 20's or 30's and there always seems to be some awkwardness to their driving. On the opposite side, learning to drive at 16 seems to encourage reckless habits to form, people I've known who waited until 18 have much better driving habits on average.

Look at the goals for the master plan part 2 and you'll see that they haven't managed to do a single one, but Elon still went ahead a published a part 3. Why actually meet goals when you can just pretend you've met them by posting new ones, I guess.

Shu's route in Dairoku. He's basically a child. He looks and acts like a child. He's technically thousands of years old, but I think we all know that's just a "clever" way to skirt laws. This trope appears all the time in harem anime and I was disappointed to see it in reverse in Dairoku. His appearance is around 12-15 and the MC is in her mid-20's. Even if he was drawn to look like an adult, it's super uncomfortable to date someone who's mentally a child.
Additionally, there's a whole mystery surrounding Shu. He appears in other routes as an aloof figure with unknown motives. When you finally play his route and uncover the mystery, it's lame. It's a lame mystery with a lame conclusion imo.

Lord of the Wings: Demo
It's a Dungeons and Dragons inspired (I think the characters are basically living in a dnd world), romcom featuring a cartoon art style very similar to Total Drama Island. It's heavy on the comedy. If you're a fan of tabletop RPG's I'd definitely recommend checking this one out. If you've never played dungeons and dragons though, you'll likely miss a lot of the jokes. It's fully voiced, and has a good bit of MC customization options.

A new car not having CarPlay isn't even something I thought I'd have to look out for, yikes. Every rental I've gotten over the past few years has had it, and it's such an upgrade from having to deal with the shitty built in systems.
Reading the article, they're also getting rid of Android Auto, so really this is just GM being too cheap for literally no reason. I used to think Ford was the company that wouldn't survive the transition to EV's. With GM doing stupid things like this and the electric F150 actually being good, it's looking more and more like GM is the one that's in trouble.
Do you like Mobile otome games? I find I can overlook the dubious monetization practices inherent to mobile, but I don't really like playing mobile otoge because I get embarrassed in public. My sister has a great story involving mystic messenger. She was at coffee shop one day with a Korean-American friend when she got one of the timed calls. She let it play on speaker and her friend was shocked that my sister apparently 1. spoke Korean 2. had a Korean boyfriend.

Yesterday, I was reading a [thread](https://lemmy.ml/post/1930001) that asked what's the point of buying a new phone as often as as people do. In the comments there were a variety of answers, but what interested me is that there were a wide variety of answers for how long each person liked to go before upgrading. So I've attempted to come up with justifications for a bunch of different intervals. Let me know what you think. Every…. Year: You spend multiple hours a day on this device, it’s worth having the most up to date. You can sell your old phone for a pretty good price so it’s not as expensive as it seems 2 years: If you like getting your service from one of the major providers then getting a new phone with a new contract can be a cost effective way of getting new tech often. 3 years: With this interval there’s often a noticeable hardware upgrade when you get your new phone and a 3 year old phone still has some resale value. 4 years: Samsung and Google both guarantee 4 years of support, so this is a natural interval for these phones. For the rest of these, I’m going to focus on iPhones because I use an iPhone and it’s what I’m familiar with. I suspect that a lot of this also applies to android phones. Perhaps push all of these milestones 1 year forward since apple guarantees 5 years of support instead of 4 like Samsung or Google. 5 years: For iPhones this is the interval you’d want if you always want to have the newest iOS. Most phones get compatibility with 6ish iOS’s including the one that comes installed. Mine was cinderella phenomenon. I have no recollection of how I stumbled across it. I was *obsessed* with Ouran high school host club as a teen so it probably looked intriguing to me as second time I'd seen a "reverse harem" on a cover. I played the entire thing within a single weekend. Then... I didn't play another otome game until Piofiore came out on the switch. No idea why I didn't. I vaguely recall not being able to find any other free games that were of similar quality, but I was an adult when Cinderella Phenomenon came out so it's not like I couldn't buy things online. Anyway, like many others I bought a ton of switch games during the pandemic and one of those was Piofiore; I've been playing otome ever since.
I'm American and in addition to our messed up healthcare system. Teeth are simultaneously so important that I have to see a specialist (dentist) for routine care, but so unimportant that it's not included in my healthcare coverage. Is it like that elsewhere?

That is a hard rule because I don't want that here. Other than that, I've just been posting what feels like related content as someone who was a longtime contributor to r/otomegames back on reddit. I think it's worth fleshing out what we want this magazine to be in more detail so that newcomers who aren't coming from an established otome community know what to expect. Some suggestions I've already seen brought up: games should have: \-a strong/primary focus on romance. \-majority male romance options \-Option to play as a woman (I also suggest that games should have the option not only to choose she/her pronouns but also to have a feminine gender presentation) Art: only allow original fan art here, not reposts Let me know what you think! Like many people I'm here because of reddit going to shit. Twitter has increasingly been shit. gycat is shutting down in September. To me it seems like lots of bastions of social media are crumpling, but as a previous active reddit user, I've been personally effected.
