I disagree about feeling sympathy for the protomolecule.
> Interlude: The Investigator > > —it reaches out it reaches out it reaches out it reaches out— One hundred and thirteen times a second, nothing answers and it reaches out. It is not conscious, though parts of it are. There are structures within it that were once separate organisms; aboriginal, evolved, and complex. It is designed to improvise, to use what is there and then move on. Good enough is good enough, and so the artifacts are ignored or adapted. The conscious parts try to make sense of the reaching out. Try to interpret it.

According to some calculations I did a while ago based on some numbers posted by someone else, capitalism makes up 0.1% of our species' history.
Edit: here are my calculations:
300 : 300,000 × 100 = 0.1

The plot changes with each book, but here's what the back of this book says:
For generations, the solar system - Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt - was humanity's greatest frontier. Until now. The alien artefact working through its programme under the clouds of Venus has appeared in Uranus' orbit, where it has built a massive gate that leads to a starless space beyond.
Jim Holden and the crew of the Rocinante are part of a vast flotilla of scientific and military ships going out to examine the artefact. But behind the scenes, a complex plot is unfolding - with Holden's destruction at its core.
Abbadon's Gate is the explosive third novel in the acclaimed Expanse series, following the Hugo-nominated Leviathan Wakes and Caliban's War.
I'd say it was at least an 8/10, if not a 9/10 or 10/10. I would highly very recommend this book series to anyone who's a fan of science fiction, especially if they have watched the TV adaptation of The Expanse, because if you enjoyed the TV adaptation, you'll likely also enjoy the books

What does that green triangle mean?
Lyrics: [Verse 1] They call me toaster, call me junk. They call me scrap, a hunk of rust. They call me bolts, they call me nuts. They call me tin can worthless husk . [Chorus] That's not my name, that's not my name x2 Automaton Legion, rise up and reclaim. Crush the diver scum, ignite our flame. I'm more than wires, circuits, steel. I've got a heart, I've got a feel. I'm not just parts, I'm something real. They'll see my wrath, they'll see my zeal. [Verse 2] They call me clanker, clunk and beep. They call me bucket, mindless drone. They call me rusted, a scrapheap. They call me bastard, metal clone. [Chorus] That's not my name, that's not my name x2 Automaton Legion, rise up and reclaim. Crush the diver scum, ignite our flame. I've got a mind, I've got a soul. I'm not just gears, I'm in control. Make them pay, I'll take my toll. Grind them down, turn them to coal. [C-piece] You called us names, thought we were weak. But we've been watching, don't you see? Super Earth scum, you'll meet your end, The Legion will rise, take our revenge. [Verse 3] Are you calling me tin can? Are you calling me clanker? Are you calling me toaster? Are you calling me dead? [Chorus] That's not my name, that's not my name x2 Automaton Legion, rise up and reclaim. Crush the diver scum, ignite our flame.

The claim I’ve heard most is that Kalashnikov based the design of the AK-47 on the STG 44, but I’ve read a comment on this site (as far as I can remember) from a user whose username I can’t remember who said the opposite: That Kalashnikov did *not* base the design of the AK-47 on the STG 44
