What's Lemmy reading?

Almost done with Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Had a few friends and family members talk about how great the Dragonlance books are, but I grew up reading The Legend of Drizzt books. So far I absolutely love it, and if you play DnD I suggest you get a copy.

I own a lot of books. There's a used book store near my house where I get them cheap. Every night before I go to sleep I try to read a chapter.

Vampires, The Masquerade: Bloodlines. The whole vibe of the setting, the story, the locations, and then when I finally understood what the plot was really about. Masterpiece of a game, couldnt stop thinking about it.

  • What are y'all's all time favourite game OSTs?
  • StrahdVonZarovich StrahdVonZarovich Now 100%

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is surprisingly good. Surtur's theme is one of the best boss themes ive ever heard. I also really like using the Battle Brothers ost for my Pathfinder games.

  • Going to the LoTR set prerelease draft. This will be my second prerelease, but I feel like all the matches I won were out of luck. I mostly play Commander with my friends, so a more standard format is a bit of a blind spot to me. Any tips?

You could always try DMing! The Pathfinder adventure paths are really great and provide a good amount of direction. If you need any I have them all as PDFs so just pm me (i think lemmy lets you do that)

Same. People like to call it a groundbreaking open world game when its exactly like all the others: a big world filled with the same few activities copy pasted over and over.

Perfectly stated. Having this new list of identities is extremely useful and helped me out a lot, but of course its gonna have problems. Trying to sort and categorize human beings is always a problem.

Its probably a common answer, but "Measure of a Man" from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It makes me hope for a future like that, where people can settle their problems by talking it out and debating, and even change their minds. Whenever I think about what Star Trek is really about, I think about Measure of a Man. Its such a shame Paramount's Picard show disrespected it so badly.

In my opinion, trying to put titles and classifications on yourself can usually do more harm than good, and this is a good example why. For a little while I was scared that I wasnt "really bisexual" cause I slightly preferred feminine to masculine people. Then I realized that I shouldnt think about it too much and get stressed over things we all just made up, so now I just do what I want. It sucks that people use that "just a phase" argument, just let people live their lives.

Excuse my ignorance but what makes it annoying? And why is it bad that you now have a slight preference for girls?

Although Pathfinder and 3.5e are very similar since Pathfinder was made to be a better 3.5e, they are still two different systems. You usually can't just take stuff from 3.5e and put it into Pathfinder, you need to convert it and change it. A lot of rules and subsystems have been changed, too much for me to go into in a comment. I would do some more research on it, but I would still suggest just sticking with Pathfinder.

As a long time player of 3.5e and Pathfinder, I would go with Pathfinder. Although I love the aesthetics of 3.5e and that whole era, the balance changes that Pathfinder brought makes it more fun for everyone.

Yeah he was talking about a wild west themed "wandslinging" new area for Eberron, and now he's thinking about just making it its own thing. If anyone can make that idea work, its Keith Baker.

Its a lot easier than you think. The easiest way to learn (at least in my opinion) is to just read. You dont have to read every word of the Core Rulebook, but at least look through it all, and definitely read the middle section about combat (aka how the game actually works). You're already playing 2e, so learning 1e shouldnt be that hard. If you need any of the books as pdf just ask, but all the rules and options are available for free on Archive of Nethys (which also has a 2e section). And the Paizo forums are great for asking questions or looking for answers.

Also Eberron is awesome. My favorite setting by far. Shame Keith Baker probably wont be able to continue writing stuff for Eberron due to WoTC.

Me and my family try to go to Cape May, New Jeresy every year. Been going there since I was a kid. Beautiful beaches, lots of great restaurants, its a fun time. Plus they have the best hot dogs on the East Coast: Hot Dog Tommy's. He's a really nice guy too (although he retired and now a new guy wears the hot dog hat).

A few weeks ago I also went to New Orleans. Amazing food, but The Simpson's werent kidding about how bad it could be. The French Quarter really does smell like garbage 24/7, and it gets really busy and hectic at night. Reminds me of a tourist trap boardwalk. But I loved everything else about it, and the National WW2 Museum is there. Although the museum didnt go in depth as I thought it would, and they really focus on the U.S. A tour through there made me realize why so many Americans think we won the war single-handedly.

Seems like a lot of people switched over to Pathfinder recently due to all the bad shit WOTC has been pulling. Im all for it, Pathfinder and Paizo is FAR better than WoTC and 5e DnD (and whatever OneDnD is/was supposed to be). I really wanna run Abomination Vaults as well, just to try out 2e. I prefer 1e, but I 2e is a very well designed system.

  • Ive seen this term a few times, but never an explanation. As a person that (mostly) associates themselves with being Bi, ive never experienced any sort of "cycle". Its it just an internet injoke (cause it sounds like bicycle).

So what are you Pathfinder players/dms been up to? Running any adventure paths? Whats your character's build/concept? 1st edition or 2nd edition? Just wanted to make a post for a general discussion.

Like most other people here, I originally came here from reddit. Ive been having a blast so far, and I much prefer the forum-style of this. After about a week of using Lemmy I realized there was something intrinsic to reddit that Lemmy doesnt have. And I wont miss it. Too many people on reddit were way too horny. I was really annoying, but Lemmy seems way more chill. Plus its refreshing knowing that the people on here arent all bots.

What are your favorite board games? Me and my friends love playing board games, but I get the feeling their tired of playing the same things. What do you guys usually play? My favorite board game of all time is HeroQuest. I never get tired of playing it. Also love Catan, Arkham Horror, Betrayal House on the Hill, Spyfall (great at parties)

Whats a popular movie that you really dont like? And whats a little known or widely hated film that you love? Although there are bits of Saving Private Ryan that I really love (obviously the landing scene) I can never get past the plot. I just find it so outrageously dumb that so many people would sacrifice their life for one random guy. Whenever I mention the movie Dredd, people always think that Im talking about the Stallone movie. Dredd starring Karl Urban is an absolute masterpiece, but no one I know has ever heard of it.

Been a big fan of Star Trek: Next Gen since I was a kid, and finally decided to start watching Deep Space Nine after hearing good things about it (and after finding a way to watch it for free). So far im loving it, and it does a lot of things better than Next Gen surprisingly! So what are your favorite episodes of Deep Space Nine?
