I've had the [Staedtler Noris Jumbo](https://a.co/d/hCZb2oT)and love it for drawing. I just purchased the [Staedtler Mars Lumograph Jumbo](https://a.co/d/cQfIsjc) and wanted to test the differences using the pencils in Atelier. Here's a photo of the results. The columns are: L - Light pressure lines H - Hard pressure lines T - Tilt/attempting to shade lightly X - Crosshatching with various pressure The Mars is soft feeling like the Noris, which I like. But I found that I could not get as light a pressure /line with the Mars as I could with the Noris. You can see that in the photo too. I think I'll stick with the Noris for art, but will add the Mars to the rotation for note taking.

I've got the A6X and love it. I want the A6X2/Nomad but can't justify the cost. The nomad is great but really, my A6X is not causing me any issues.

I do think I'll buy the A5X2 though. Just to have a larger screen for sketching in Atelier.

I'm jealous of your Nomad though! Hope you dig it!

Supernote just added a page with the latest info on the A5X2, including photos and videos. Looking forward to using Atelier on the larger screen with this.

First time I hear about the Boox Palma, a phone-sized E-reader with Android and the Play Store, does anyone have it?

I've got a Palma. Love it.

Like others here, I keep wifi off while I'm reading and only turn it on to update my Omnivore articles or update my saved position in a book (using Kindle or Kobo apps).

I have no idea how the battery holds up for the people who are trying to use it as a phone (ie using it a lot for browsing or chatting and other battery-heavy apps).

I just wanted a phone sized eReader that could let me install apps other than just a bookstorr. The Palma fits that bill wonderfully.

I can't play anything that requires precision aiming with a controller.

A Steam Controller though? I'm way better. Especially with the gyro aiming or micro adjustments on the touchpads.

I know they are discontinued but as someone like you who had a rough time with those types of games without a mouse, I'd see if you can find a steam controller on ebay or something.

But I don't play FPSes at all any more really. And with games like cyberpunk, I'm always more stealth than action oriented so it hasn't been a problem. And when I have to use a normal controller and am forced to aim, I heavily rely on aim assist settings. I don't care 😂

Personally I stopped custom roms a while back. I'm not hardcore in the anti-google camp though.

If you are, obviously custom roms will be all you should be looking at. Tons of good recommendations in this thread already.

If you're not in this camp though, the default pixel experience has been great for me and might be for you. I find it the least annoying of the oem experiences (not cluttered in features I'll never use, simplified settings menu where I've never had to use the search on since it all made sense etc).

I'd say use the stock rom for a few weeks. If you hate it, custom roms are always there for you.

The Minisforum HX80G. That's the older model. They have the HX99G, HX100G and others now. They all range in price but Amazon has sales.

I picked mine up for $650.

I'm the same way but I bought one of those mini pcs that has a laptop cpu/gpu in it, installed ChimeraOS on it which essentially turned it into a steamdeck.

I have that hooked up to my living room tv and it's my main gaming device. It's essentially a console. I never upgrade anything. It runs what I play at 1080p with med or high settings.

Suits me just fine. I mainly just want to sit on my couch and game on the TV instead of being at a desk like I did years ago.

Ah OK. Every time someone asks how to find other communities, I see that Lemmy Explorer site linked, which is why I searched there and was confused why this community wasn't on there.

Nice to know it's showing up in other indexers though.

Like others have mentioned, I am in the same boat of having multiple communities to follow with the same name but on different instances and I forget about others or (more likely) don't even know that others exist.

It does bug me that I can't group communities that exist on different instances together. It would be nice to be able to subscribe to a collection of communities that I can give a label to.

A way to group all patientgamers communities together would be a huge help.

It's just the way the whole federation stuff works I guess. And I like it...Except for when I don't 😂

    Thanks for the info!

  • Hey everyone, We're coming up on a year anniversary (I think) of this community and I thought I'd do some giveaways to celebrate that. It's semi-annoying that not all game stores have digital gift cards you can purchase so there are a few options here. 1. **Amazon digital gift card**: for those of you who buy physical games 2. **Physical Steam gift card**: the slowest option, as it requires me to leave my house and buy a stamp and mail something (the horror). 3. **Gifted game directly in Steam / GOG.com** For the gifted games / gift cards it'll be capped at $30 -- after all, we're talking about old games here right? If you want a few games that total up to $30, that's cool too. **I'm going to pick two members at random from those who reply here as the winners.** Just comment with what option you prefer, and ideally tell us about what game you'd like to get (I'd prefer to limit the low-effort comments if we can. I like the discussions people have here so please do try to comment more than just "#1" ). I'll sticky this post and will leave it open for 2 weeks (**end of April is the deadline**) Thanks for keeping this community a cool place with good discussions! ----- # UPDATE 4/30/24: This contest is officially over! The 2 randomly chosen winnders are: ## @Klanky@sopuli.xyz ## @Dymonika@beehaw.org Congrats! I will be messaging you both individually to get your email addresses or steam/gog usernames so I can gift you your games! Thanks again to everyone again for keeping this place going!

This has definitely been the case with me as well. Especially as I got older and had less time to play anything.

I've always been partial to story over mechanics though. I just think the preference has tilted much further in favor of story games now.

Lemmy API - getComments -How do replies work?

I can fetch the comments for a post using the API using: `comment/list?post_id=` and that works fine but I have a question about how to determine what comment is a reply to another/ determining the comment nesting/threading. From what I can tell the only thing tying any two comments together is the `comment.path` prop. Is that correct? That prop seems to be in a format where each nested comment has the root parent `path` number followed by `.` then their unique number. And each subsequent comment is another number sequence after that and so on. Example: root comment: ```json { "comment": { "path": 12345 } } ``` child comment 1: ```json { "comment": { "path": 12345.327928 } } ``` Is this correct? Can someone who has used this API explain how this works? There are no doc comments in the docs for the http client so I'm just winging it here.

It's only been 2 weeks since starting this community up but I do love how active it has been. Lemmy was very much a ghost town for me when I first signed up and couldn't find any communities to match the ones that filled my feed on reddit. Now I see a healthy amount of activity in this and other communities that have sprung up recently. Really cool to see people starting threads and offering the nuanced discussions on games here--which is really the stuff I was hoping would happen. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted and commented and contributed to making this community alive. Keep it up!

Hey everyone! Figured I'd start up this community as I look to replicate the subreddits I followed now that I'm here on Lemmy. My summer project is creating a Lemmy mobile app in RN and I hope to engage with other devs here during the process. Hopefully we can get a decent community here.

**Reproduction steps:** 1. Add a profile from some instance that has unread replies 2. Verify that the inbox icon shows the badge with the count of unread items. 3. Add a 2nd account to the app from a different instance. Be sure this account either has a different number of unread messages or has none at all **Expected Behavior:** The badge on the inbox tab should change to reflect the inbox unread number for each respective account **Actual Behavior:** The badge on the inbox tab shows the number for whatever account has unread messages. Changing to an account with zero unread messages will not clear out that badge when using that account.

With the news that the the new 16 series will offer gpu modules for upgrading, I really hope someone makes a non-laptop enclosure for the mainboard +gpu. I'd love it if instead of buying non-upgradable mini gaming pcs I could have one of these that offers more flexibility, upgrades, and would be supporting a company I think should be rewarded for their entire ethos. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

This is the post where I mention I created this group for any ex-reddit people who are searching the Lemmy communities looking for equivalents to subreddits they followed. I know this is a super niche group so who knows how dead this will be but even still! It's here for those who want to discuss and show their Unity 2D stuff.

I saw the recent API charge news with Reddit and saw that people were discussing alternatives to Reddit in the event we all have to abandon it. Joined Lemmy here and noticed one of my favorite subreddits had no Lemmy equivalent — so I created it. I have no desire to be a mod, so if anyone wants to take on that role just let me know. I’m just hoping people do post here if they’re checking Lemmy out and seeing what’s available community-wise.
