  • Anyone else use their crappy old laptops to host servers? lol
  • WomboCombo WomboCombo Now 100%

Yeah, that's sadly the reason why I do have a pile of old pc/laptop hardware laying around and raspberry pi's for my local server needs..

Not to be a downer here, but last year I had plenty of super large tomatoes plants - super healthy too! I got I think 2-3 flowers and 0 fruits. But the odds are in your favor when your plants are that healthy :)

No I actually haven't, but I watch various creators on YouTube. Maybe I should give it a try :)

  • WomboCombo WomboCombo Now 100%

Wouldn't that simply be the question of: is docker running on ARM64 cpu's?

As far as I know lemmy and postgres both use alpine base images. Which should be compatible with whatever underlying host system you have, as long as docker is running.

  • What are your favorite herbs/spices that you grow yourself?
  • WomboCombo WomboCombo Now 100%

Haha I wish I'd be Uncle Iroh!

I found it by browsing the stock of a very good German herbal/medical plant merchant. I got very intrigued by the description and just bought one plant and got to get a second plant from it by propagating via cuttings :D

It adds a light citruy fresh taste to the tea. I personally always mix it with some other tea, because by itself is very mild. I most often drink it with a basic green tea, some ginger and honey.

cross-posted from: https://beehaw.org/post/606316 > Hey there everybody > > This is a spreadsheet we made to help folks pick out plants for their gardens by sorting and filtering for all sorts of growth habits, uses, and site conditions. Please feel free to make a copy and use it in your software of choice and share it with gardening friends if you like; all we ask is proper attribution. For full disclosure, this is adapted from the Plant Species Matrix found in *Edible Forest Gardens vol. 2* by Dave Jacke and Eric Toensmeier. We lovingly (painstakingly) went line by line to make it again and update a few data points to reflect new information like hardiness zones or pH as well as add the utility of being able to whittle down such a huge list to only what niche you're looking for.

Thanks, I will definitely be using this! I was planning on creating something of the sorts myself. But now I have a great foundation on which I can build.

  • I don't think "command line hard" is the worst part of self-hosting.
  • WomboCombo WomboCombo Now 100%

To be honest, the command line is an important tool, that when you are able to use correctly, will give you a better understanding of a lot of the inner workings of a machine.

The commandine might be intimidating at first, but I personally think not as big of a hurdle to think about replacing it with anything.

Most people that I know that at first were afraid of the command line but tried to get into it, now don't want to go back. Working with the cli is so efficient that it's hard to go back to GUI's.

Edit: don't get me wrong. I do love a good gui! And I am all for creating usefully GUI's, also for tech jobs. But I don't see a point in replacing the job you do in the cli with a GUI.

8 dollars? That's crazy. Especially because the plant itself isn't that hard to keep and produces an amount of leafs you will never be able to use all.

How does the hotness level depend on the watering? The less water the hotter the pepper?

Feed of other Instances not showing up

Hey, because lemmy is federated I thought I'd create my own instance, basically just for myself. Because I had no idea what I was doing, I tried to find post from other instances. First instance I tried was Beehaw. But it somehow did not work. I was confused. Because after a few minutes I tried to get posts from other Instances and that worked pretty well.. Any idea why I can't access posts from beehaw on my own instance? Does it maybe have to do with them defederating lemmy.ml and sh.itjust.works? Thank for your help!
