Ah yes, the capitalist virtue of being able to choose your own job. Imagine if he had the right to work at an institution suitable for his education because said institution is not run for profit with overworked skeleton crews, but instead for scientific progress where more minds is always a benefit.

  • The Ukraine situation has made it abundantly clear just how many libs are, or are at least okay with, Nazis and fascists.

Perhaps, but I think a lot of them do own it and like to larp as the CIA and think it's a clever realpolitik move to embrace fascist militias in Ukraine, purely as a means to an end with Russia, with the idea that they'll "handle" the Nazis later just as soon as they've done their bidding and beat the Russians for them.

Frankly the left in the US has been suppressed for so long after the multiple red scares, it was never likely that a genuine left-winger would ever come to such popularity as people like Vaush.

It is nevertheless progress, people will eventually see there is more than what either Vaush or Bernie Sanders says Socialism is and will demand it when both fail to provide any of the meaningful improvements their supporters are looking for.

    Yeah, it's mostly

Erm Ackshually you're misinformed. Russia would have invaded westward anyway, it's just coincidence it didn't happen for 30 years of NATO expansion until they expanded to Ukraine, because they're Nazis trying to rebuild the USSR for oligarchs

And of course obligatory claims that Boy Boy must be Russian propagandists.

I doubt it, tbh it's of less significance to Russia's perception of national security in Europe if Finland or Sweden joins NATO. Although officially neutral, I think when push comes to shove everyone knows whose side they'd be on, and it had always been the case and Russia's war planning already no doubt presumes Finnish/Swedish involvement.

Ukraine was different because that county had been aligned with Russia for centuries, close enough that the coup and subsequent drive to be aligned with the west was something unthinkable prior to 2014. It's not even that Ukraine is that militarily important in the grand scheme of things or that NATO missiles are any more dangerous in Ukraine than they already were in Poland, but it's just far too fucking ballsy of NATO to be effectively moving into Russia's dacha and if it went without a strong response, then Crimea is the next logical setting for NATO and Russia's showdown and one far more likely to result in Nukes since Russia will see it as an invasion of their territory while NATO would still support Ukraine's claim over Crimea.

NATO weapons getting used and killing Russian soldiers in what Russia recognises is Ukraine (or at least Donbass/Lugansk as separate states and not Russia) is one thing, but NATO weapons getting used and killing Russian soldiers and citizens in Crimea would be NATO supporting an invasion of Russia itself.

The eventual extrajudicial and unusual killing of the bad guy is justified if they're the personification of evil itself as a maverick ideologue terrorist. If these action movie heroes were ripping the arms off a soldier following orders, that might betray how cruel the main characters are acting even in the name of justice, and we wouldn't want that now would we?

Ends should always justify the means.

  • Maybe not on topic, but I am amazed at how people who ostensibly are so passionate and supportive of Ukraine seemed to treat saying "Kiev" as being tantamount to having "Z" tattooed on my arse, because they seemingly didn't know it was ever called anything else other than "Kyiv" before they supported current thing. When I mentioned "Kiev" is in our atlases at school, one claimed my education must have been when atlases also contained East Germany and Yugoslavia. I've had at least two people accuse me of being le putin bot now for using the word Kiev and both fucked off as soon as I brought up the fact we called a breaded chicken cutlet with a garlic and herb filling a "Chicken Kiev" up until a month ago. I can only assume they didn't know the "Kiev" refers to a city in Ukraine the entire 15 years they've been eating them prior to this situation. Just why though? Why are libs so passionate about the transliteration of a city they didn't even know existed a month ago?

There was a time where DPRK didn't have to worry about sanctions because of the communist trading block

Yeah, and it was wealthier than South Korea for much of that time. South Korea's economy has only grown since the 1990s when the end of the Cold War resulted in SK finally deposing their last military dictator, it was an extremely poor nation up until that point.

Clearly the author is looking at present-day SK and is just making presumptions about its history.

The ironic thing is you'd think that's coming from the kind of guy who wears a cowboy hat and a shirt that's patterned with the American flag who wants most people dead for not already being American (especially if they're actually Chinese or Russian) anyway.

But I'm sure this is the kind of guy who thinks he's the lord and protector of all that's good in the world with his critical support for NATO, online he's a debatebro in the Vaush tradition and watches CNN to study political theory.

Edit: Looked it up, I was wrong, poster is Ukrainian and has posted exclusively about Russia even before the war.

That's true, but I think it's also the result of formerly socialist nations opening to Western/American culture. Racism is an effective way to ensure proletarians are divided and Racism is one of the great American exports. They're clever about it, they make films about how Racism is wrong, but those same films portray Racism as a natural fixture of life and society, that it just innately exists and will be a perpetual struggle between good and evil forever and you can only choose to be good.

Not only is that conceptually incorrect, but plenty of people out there also don't want to be "right" (particularly when the social conditions are bad) and these films introduces them with how to be "wrong" as well as legitimising the idea that Racism already existed as an important struggle and they're merely picking a side rather than instigating Racism in their own nations.

So, it's hardly a coincidence that the world's racists all use the same words, they've heard them all in American media, which I'm sure won Oscars for having powerful messages about preventing Racism.

That's fair enough, I personally think it's hard to over-glorify China compared to the sheer over-glorification the Imperial Core enjoys and the intense negativity it promotes of not just China, but any country that isn't in the Imperial Core and especially AES nations.

That being said, without insisting China must change to suit western tastes, having discussions about how western comrades would will do things differently is always a good topic anyway without any confrontation intended, I think.

It's really cringe how people watch only one side's reporting on the world, but they're so confident that they've got all the facts, that they've not been told a single lie or embellishment by their media, they genuinely believe any questioning of the media's reporting or narrative (and therefore their entire awareness of the world) is the same as announcing open hatred of Ukrainians or Uighurs.

I mean, I would have thought an unquestioning desire to believe and repeat anything negative about China or Russia they hear (evidence usually not included nor required) would at least count as prejudice, if not actual open statements of hatred.

If NATO were invading Ukraine, then Kiev would already be wasteland.

On that point, it's quite sad that people keep saying "Har har the Russians are so incompetent!" because this has gone on for a month. But Russia isn't fighting like how NATO invades other nations, NATO could indeed force Ukraine to capitulate in two weeks but looking at the historical examples that would be achieved via shock and awe and a LOT of indiscriminate carpet bombing.
