Yes but I don't want to get rid of my getty ttys, so that is a better alternative for me. Perhaps for others too.
The [Ly](https://github.com/fairyglade/ly) display manager doesn't seem to play very nice with OpenRC on Gentoo linux and will only display for a few seconds before being overtaken by agetty. For anyone else who's suffering from this, an easy way to solve this is to configure Ly to start on an unused TTY instead by editing the `/etc/ly/config.ini` file and adding the following at the end of it (change the number to the TTY you want it to use): ``` tty = 9 ```

Don't know if this will have any impact; Apple has resisted fixing design flaws in their past products even with public pressure.
It's probably more effective to vote with your wallet and show Apple their behavior isn't acceptable at your next upgrade.
