Why are posts that expressing support and wish towards Monero's proliferating adoption getting some downvote-bombings in here? Monero needs its shock troops to move its adoption

I bumped into two projects that do not yet use Monero for dono/payments yet. 1. https://riseup.net/vpn#donate 2. https://freenet.org/ghostkey/create/ The first one of them is a cool VPN that you can install and use right away inside debian: `sudo apt install riseup-vpn -y` The second one is the new freenet project that aims to build distributed and uncensorable network. Both of these projects SHOULD have been using Monero for donos/payments, ALREADY. I think it is high time the Monero community shock troops go out there and apply nudging in these projects' community pages. Adopt /r/Monero community traditions in the Town

If this place going to be a larger Town hall (and eventually supercede the one on the user-hostile reddit servers) we need traditions that foster discussion **in here.** Look, I also hate reddit, and it would be better if the Monero subreddit there was stale and inconsequential (see: https://monero.town/post/3725287 ), but the truth is its reverse: the Town is a near-ghost Town; which is a shame! Lemmy has a lot of potential for replacing reddit for long form written, indexed, searchable and structured (all as opposed to irc/matrix discussions) discussion medium. But we need to get people have sticking, lasting reasons to post here. In order to make posters in here get into the habit, here are my suggestions: 1. Adopt "skepticism sundays," threads from /r/Monero. The Town should be the place to air out skeptic discussions on monero, we shouldn't need to br put up with reddit's automated filtering of posts and millionth captchas, just to post there. 2. Adopt "weekly discussion" threads from /r/Monero. Again, the /c/monero should foster posters to post more frequently in here, with threads like this. --- We hate reddit. Reddit is simply **unusable**. New monero community members are unable to get their opinions heard and take part in the convo. It is up to us to have a haalthier discourse environment in the community.

How are we supposed to use /r/Monero ?!

A few days ago I created a reddit account just for "taking part in the discussion." However, here are the absolutely frustrating experiences I had: 1. You can create an account if you give reddit your email, but you CANNOT login via reddit's onion URL. Reddit will keep having "we had a problem," and "an error with the server occurred", after you have solved your 5th captcha with a screenful of bicycles to click on. No way to login anonymously. 2. You will have to login to your account via the clearnet URL of reddit. Damn.. But OK, everything for " contributing to the community, we are a diverse one, after all right? Make your voice heard". Alright. I login on clearnet. Reddit still gives me a red banner with some error message, like a sack of shit splashing on my desk, but lets me in this time. Good, finally "be a part of the conversation!". Start my first thread announcing my Turkish translation of monero.garden (see MoneroBahce.com). Hit send. Instantly reddit filters my post. My post and voice are not visible whatsoever. --- Seriously, why are we taking reddit seriously as a discussion platform; and moreover, why are we making it the centrepiece of written, long-form Monero discussion? Why is that place have such a large role in taking a pulse of the Monero users?

Migrate acc from android to desktop AppImage takes too long

Downloaded the release 6.0.0-beta1 pre-release version of AppImage to my Qubes-Whonix. Then, created an encrypted archive (18 MB) of my android simplex using simplex app, and got my download link for migration to the desktop app. On the desktop appimage, I pasted this link, and it has been "DOWNLOADING LINK DETAILS" for 15 minutes now. Is this feature working yet, or am I waiting in vain?

Backstory: I had a debian 11 VPS. I installed the postgresql program from the debian 11 apt repo, back a few months ago. Back then, it was postgres 13 on the debian stable repos. Fast forward couple months: debian 12 comes out. I do a "apt dist-upgrade" and in-place upgrade my VPS from debian 11 to debian 12. Along with this upgrade, comes postgresql 15 installed. Now, fast forward couple more months: lemmy 0.18.3 comes out. I do not upgrade (I am on lemmy 0.18.2---afaik). Fast forward some time, too: lemmy 0.18.4 comes out. I decide to upgrade to 0.18.4 from my existing 0.18.2. I pull the git repo. Compile it locally. It goes well, no errors in the compilation process. I stop the lemmy systemd service, then I "mv" the compiled "lemmy_server" to /usr/bin dir. I try to restart the now-upgraded lemmy systemd service. However, the systemd service fails. I check the `sudo journalctl -fu lemmy` and I see the following error message: ``` lemmy_server[17631]: thread 'main' panicked at 'Couldn't run DB Migrations: Failed to run 2023-07-08-101154_fix_soft_delete_aggregates with: syntax error at or near "trigger"', crates/db_schema/src/utils.rs:221:25 ``` I report this issue here: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3756#issuecomment-1686439103 However, after a few back and forths and internet search, I conclude that somewhere between lemmy 0.18.3 and 0.18.4, lemmy stops supporting psql <15. So, my existing DB is not compatible. Upon my investigation on my VPS setup, I concluded that psql 15 is running, however, lemmy is using the psql 13 tables (I do not know if this is the correct term). Now my question: is there a way to import the lemmy data I had in the psql 13 tables to a new psql 15 table (or database, I don't know the term). To make things hairier: I also run a dendrite server on the same VPS, and the dendrite server is using the psql 15 with psql 13 tables on the same database as the lemmy one. The dendrite database is controlled by a psql user named "dendrite" and the lemmy database is controlled by a psql user named "lemmy" . I hope this makes differentiation between two databases possible. And so I do not harm my existing dendrite database. Any recommendations about my options here?
