Possibly a case of a westoid stretching their imagination into believing that a civil unrest in their country must be an indication of civil unrest around the world.
If actually a civil war breaks out in the imperial core, there are high chances that there would be peace in the other areas of the world.

My annual check-up revealed some health issues, which made me change my lifestyle a lot. I can clearly see how it can promote longevity.
Btw, which inaka would you consider? Looking at the summers this year, I feel the northern parts would still be livable in the future.

Hmm, so there is still a flickering ray of hope left.
This was probably one of the handful of times I went back to reddit in 2 years, hoping that the blatant genocide would have some sane noises rising up. I was stupid to think so.

Just reading the pinned post on r/worldnews makes me recoil with the unending racism, genocide denial and the cheering of the killings. I wonder if most of the Westoids are just so far gone or purely evil.
Disgusting excuse for a human being

Why is “private forest ownership” a thing?

I strongly agree with this. A problem might be the way sorting works, a comment at the top would have the implicit perception of a higher score, even with hidden scores.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind reading history focused on America but once I get a macro understanding of the history. It might take my incompetent brain some time to digest all the suggestions here but I'll get there

I like this one a lot, thank you!

I appreciate this recommendation, thanks! Do you have any suggestions for books that are not centered around America?
My understanding of history is pretty pathetic, and I am trying to improve it. Looking for a book that isn’t revisionist, racist, or full of colonial apologia. Something that goes as far back as the 15th century would be perfect.

The Hazards of Love by The Decemberists
I am looking for any article/post that explains the involvement of China in Myanmar from a leftist perspective. From what I know from a Myanmar acquaintance, there is an overall negative sentiment towards China because they support the junta, giving China control over trade & industries. (Let me know if this post belongs in a different community)
Read the article at your own risk of dying from disgust
> China has played a significant role in this deindustrialization of the United States. The explosion in job losses occurred after the U.S. Congress granted China the status of “permanent normal trade relations” in 2000, ahead of China’s accession to the World Trade Organization. Between 1985 and 2000, the U.S. trade deficit with China had grown steadily from $6 billion to $83 billion. But that deficit ballooned more dramatically after China joined the WTO in 2001, and it now stands at a stratospheric $309 billion. Once in the WTO, China unfairly undermined U.S.-based manufacturing by using exploited labor and providing sweeping state subsidies to Chinese firms. Even more than NAFTA—the 1994 free trade deal that allowed many U.S. I manufacturing and farm jobs to move to Mexico—the liberalization of trade with China decimated factory and rural towns, particularly in the Midwest and in the South. This devastation fueled the rise of anti-immigrant xenophobia, anti-Asian hate, and right-wing nationalism that has threatened democracy at home through extremism and violence in U.S. politics. Am I reading this right? - US made some policies that allowed normal trade relations with China - China used state sponsored subsidies to boost production, while US, out of greed, moved away from manufacturing to services. - US took a big L Takes a lot of logic bending to make people believe that not the US’s failure to compete but China’s success is the reason for anti-Asian sentiments. It’s like losing a race and getting angry at the winner because they trained better. The last part suggests that the anti Asian sentiment isn't the problematic outcome but the violence/extremism from it meddling with US politics is. The whole article just reeks of seethe.
In the midst of European nation’s unrest over the energy crisis, if Russia resumes it’s supply, wouldn’t that be hypocritical and, more concerning, reverse the progress the world has made towards the destruction of this wretched hegemony?
Nothing to add, just 🔴🫡 It says “Long live chairman Mao” at the bottom
