Favorite D-pad?
  • zebus zebus Now 100%

Yea your not alone, I bought a Steam Deck bc of fomo, and resold my unit shortly after receiving it because I didn't like it. I'll continue to hold out for a future portable PC handheld. And I only had to watch one youtube review to tell I wasn't down for the ROG Ally, d-pad seems quite crappy.

Glad to hear about the Miyoo, was thinking about getting one of those for work, now you got me excited about it.

Been tempted to try to replace my RP2+ with a newer gen model, but dunno if I could ever give Abernic another shot with how bad I hated the one I had, but I'm sure all their devices are different so maybe I should. Also considering the Odin Lite.

  • This is my number one thing I look for in a handheld so just wondering what models have stuck out to you guys. I had a RG351P but couldn't stand the accidental diagonals so I moved on. Apparently there is a mod to fix it so might have to eventually go back and try that. Next I got a RP2+, and I love the d-pad on this thing.

I play the shit out of my rp2+, but wonder if it’s worth upgrading.. some of these look pretty interesting

  • Like say for example I wanted a cool icon for my kbin/lemmy community. I used the Reddit forhire sub in the past but it seems less active nowadays.. plus it's Reddit.. And I've used fiverr before but it seems better suited for having a cool artwork made than for webdesign or something highly specific due to the language barrier.

What file-sharing and media organizing software do you wish that existed?
  • zebus zebus Now 100%

A stand-alone media file renamer/organizer with a nice webui that supports hard links.

Since I automate my torrent downloads I basically use the arr suite for just renaming and organizing which kinda over complicates things.

  • The Diablo clickbait is unreal, is the enshitification of the internet reaching the gaming communities now?

Rofl, it's a hobby, you do it for fun, you shouldn't need to get paid. I also play tennis as a hobby and I love to talk to people about it without charging them money believe it or not. The fetishization with internet fame, views, and money is making gaming weird.

I mean back when I was more into gaming I would contribute. I didn't expect money, I just did it because I was fun. I feel like there's a big disconnect between the current generation and my generation that wrote 300 page guides on gamefaqs for the hell of it rofl.

The difference is the decreasing availability of alternatives.

I mean I would argue it's related, the reason behind it is $$$. Corporate interests have homogenized content and de-normalized diversity and community.

People who use to just post their excel sheets and research on some bb forum for free somewhere starting getting paid by icy veins or maxroll. Overtime they establish a monopoly on the content and can do whatever the hell they want.

Why make a platform that depends on the community and you get the ad views when you can adopt a business strategy that also gets you youtube and social media views while eliminating your competition.

And the youtube trend is just people trying to emulate the handful of people who managed to make it big off the twitch/youtube bag.

As someone who's not an auditory/visual learner I feel personally attacked by this. I skipped class and stayed home and read the book/notes for a reason.

Cause you gotta get dem "views". Don't forget to smash that subscribe button.

The format makes no sense for the information being consumed, it's like this for their benefit not the viewers.

Even the Maxroll build guides are like, oh yea go view our youtube video to get all the info.

    5
  • Does everyone just think they can make a living playing games? Trying to search for Diablo 4 info gets you nothing but mountains of useless clickbait youtube videos. Gotta waste my time jumping thru the video just to find out the guy is dumber about the game than I am. Like I get it, YouTube is the only place you can monetize your "game knowledge", but still.. Why are there are only like two sites with build guides and info? And those two sites don't even have community builds, its just a couple guides written by some l33t dude we are suppose to trust. Why is there no useful discussion forums, discords, or at least something not in video format? If people care about becoming gaming influencers so much why can't we at least come out with a new monetization platform that doesn't suck and has a dislike button. Anyone else sharing my rage?

Why did you buy a Blizzard game in 2023?
  • zebus zebus Now 100%

Peer pressure, everyone I know was playing D4 and asking me constantly when I was going to get it.

  • I spilt coffee all over my keyboard this morning and it’s all sticky, since it didn’t break can I just pour water on it to help the stickiness?
  • zebus zebus Now 100%

Funny story, I spilt coke all over my first mechanical keyboard. I tried everything to fix it, water, rice, alcohol. After all that it still felt horrible so I ended up just buying a new one. But I didn't throw it away, I just stuck it in my closet where it remained for years.

Then approximately 8 years later, I take it out, randomly decide to try typing on it.. its perfect. Felt just like it did when it was new, I dunno if the sugar just broke down or degraded over time or what, but it was fixed.

So if nothing else, just put it into storage for a decade and then try it out again lol.

Torrents, I like the community and indefinite retention. And with 1gbps home connections becoming more common staying in ratio has become way easier.

    Nope, do whatever suits you!

I would say tho the example you made is one of the infamous cases where docker is more difficult to setup than without due to the file locations of your movies, etc needing to match between dockers. When I set it up I found a really good guide that not only explained how to set it up but they also explained the logic and reason behind the issue.

    https://wiki.servarr.com/docker-guide#consistent-and-well-planned-paths

Another good guide about the issue:
    https://trash-guides.info/Hardlinks/How-to-setup-for/Docker/

The reason I’d initially recommend docker to a beginner is it keeps everything clean and organized, it’s easy to undo mistakes while learning, and I feel some apps are easier to setup with docker because they come with the dependencies already installed and configured properly.

Apparently they’ve pulled out of recent GBs they were set to be the US proxy for. They’ve set their discord to read only and deleted general chat. And their ticket system says it’s full and can’t accept new ones. It would seem they are still selling and shipping in-stock products, but my two GBs thru them, GMK Moonlight and Hubble, haven’t had updates in quite some time.

New to all this, trying to understand the microblog section, seems like it's ideal for simpler discussion. But after replying to a guy in the Diablo microblog section, I noticed that he was actually on mastodon not kbin. So mastodon tags get autopulled into the microblog if the names match? If so does that mean that stuff you post also gets posted to the corresonding mastodon tag? [\#kbinMeta](https://kbin.social/tag/kbinMeta)
