I didn't know about Alba before but after doing some reading I'm really liking their vintage watch lines. I wish I had paid more attention to the buckets of "as-is" watches in the markets.

Exactly! The speaker sounds like crap, but it may need a thorough cleaning when I get back home.
The Alba Y823-5000 is a neat little digital watch I picked up at a flea market in Osaka Japan for about $10. Beside the usually quartz watch offerings, this one had a button that will read the current time to you in Japanese with a button push.

It's pretty interesting to see how people give and interpret ratings in the US vs. Asia for example. In the US it seems like less than a mid-four is a gamble, in Japan you get some great restaurants hanging around at 3.0+. The reviews will say like "Everything was perfect great food, 3 stars".

Pretty sure the article is satire. Here's something similar from Snopes. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cassidy-boon-drowning/
From the original article: "I could have died peacefully, but now I am living a nightmare; I was sexually assaulted in broad daylight by the only person who was sober at the party; what are the chances?.”

I was new to a school and decided to skip class with a bunch of classmates I barely knew. One guy goes to the bathroom and comes back and stands right behind me. I look up and he is completely naked except for a sock on his dick hovering right above my head.
We've been great friends for close to 18 years and I just got to meet his two kids.

Well it had a lock icon. You can't just make those up!

One of my favorite series to read and watch growing up. Driver's high is my go to karaoke jam!

This reminds me a lot of the WebTV box my parents got us in lieu of an actual PC. The specs are laughable now and all I ever remember was how painfully slow it was to load up the simplest of websites. Still, it was pretty exciting to have back then.

Jesus Christ. What was the prompt, faces like melting mozerella?

Unrelated, but Native Americans did this in the US to mark trails. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_trees
It's cool that you can still easily identify them to this day.

Weird take but definitely gonna be unpopular, haha. Does that apply to tooth whitening?

This game is awesome and hasn't aged at all. If you can, definitely give it a go!

I used to rent this game from the base video store when my parents would let me. It was always for a two day period and it took a ton of rentals to beat. I went through a lot of paper writing down those codes. I also really love the box art for the X series.

Thanks for the tips! Is it pretty easy to find movement specific service instructions or do you just learn to recognize parts and common build methods?

Once I settle down I'd love to get into full on servicing vintage watches as well.

Yeah so an example of throwing on aftermarket parts:
Start with your base watch, I picked up a cheap Invicta dive watch like so https://files.catbox.moe/bnxgcp.jpg
Slap on some aftermarket hands, bezel, faced, and sand the bracelet for a nice brushed finish. https://files.catbox.moe/mo52xw.jpg
This is a watch restoration I was attempting. Did a poor job but learned quite a bit. https://files.catbox.moe/9bv3pa.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/2kwaka.jpg

It could be a lot of things ranging from state threat actors looking for a toehold into a network or to cost the government time and resources or people doing it for the lulz.

Not too quirky or obscure but I really just like to fix shit. Clocks, washing machines, cars, crooked door, hole in a sweater, electronics... Nothing is outside of my interest.
On the more obscure side I like to fiddle with wrist watches by adding aftermarket parts and modifying their overall look.
This one is cheating a bit. This abandoned water park in Thuy Thien Lake has fallen into disuse but had found its second life as a tourist attraction. While the park project has been abandoned, on any given day you’ll find a number of tourists wandering around taking pictures. The best part is riding a motorbike down the decaying sidewalks between former attractions. The former aquarium inside of the dragon body held three crocodiles that were only recently removed from the premises. https://files.catbox.moe/tnrgho.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/1ws9t1.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/wcpb6h.jpg More information can be found here: https://www.expatolife.com/thuy-tien-lake-abandoned-water-park-hue-vietnam/

Time to put a team together to "rationalize" our tools then rinse and repeat.
An interesting road in the Nan Province of Thailand. You can see why the road got its name.
One of my favorites from this band. They just released a new album.
For me, it was the game Rocket Jockey released by Sega Soft in '96. It was perfect. The game featured a surf rock soundtrack by Dick Dale. The entire premise of the game was to ride around on rockets and using long cables to yank your opponents off theirs. Referees were also fair play. I don't think I've met anyone else who has played the game, so if you have, let me know!
Great band I found out about in Mexico.
A shot of an overgrown temple entry gate in Angkor Archaeological park. I suck at taking photos, so this is a rare one I'm quite happy with. Side note, that tree was damaged and actually cut down right over where the frame ends, haha. So slightly less magical, but still cool!
I'm no photographer, but it's hard not to find a photo worthy spot here. Angkor, Cambodia
