Rooting (assume you meant this by jailbreak8ng) is not required for this process. Only some apps reauire root. Kodi and the youtube adfree apps don't require root.

But you can just block all the ads on the home screen with pihole. Then you can still use the native TV apps. It's a win-win.
If you turn off Internet access then your parents can't stream.

This is untrue. You can use Jellyfin or Kodi natively on LG WebOS on the TV and stream whatever you want locally. You have to grab it from the homebrew channel or sideload it. It's a little bit of a process though. Nothing crazy. But it works!
Edit: you can also get YouTube without ads off Homebrew.

It's really hard to tell how Mozilla is acting doing because 99.99% of the posts/comments on Lemmy/Reddit is just FUD. I'm sire it skews people's perception.

Yea that's likely what it is. Hopefully I can remain in the 1% of people who go out of their way to block ads. As long as I can do that I'll welcome the industry as a whole being more privacy friendly (if that's even possible)

I originally was one of the "FUCK FIREFOX IS FUCKED" people. However, after taking a deep breath and actually reading, yes, you are correct. There is no indication that they're blocking adblockers or taking away firefox customization. I think they're both looking for alternative revenue streams and trying to make the advertising business less intrusive. That being said, their communication is absolute dogshit and they deserve a lot of the shit they get. But I am not yet panicking. Firefox remains the best choice for blocking ads.

I've never played Runescape so my answer is I play literally any other games.
My comment is unhelpful but I'm posting it anyway.

I'm not sure. Major cities are absurdly expensive though. $30 for a sandwich is insane I agree. I'm just not surprised because it's NYC ha.

It's NYC. The most expensive place in the USA (besides San Francisco)

Lemmy has some sort of slander campaign going against Signal. Can't tell if it's just misinformed idiots or a paid shill smear campaign being run here (likely the former, Lemmy is too small for companies to give a shit about.) It's really annoying. Same with Mozilla and Firefox. Not sure Lemmy likes anything?

That is why I used the word "community" in my reply ;-). Community means multiple people. You can look it up on dictionary.com if you need to confirm the definition.
Try reading more carefully next time. Maybe read slower or try to pay more attention.
Thanks.

People gave Starfield shit for all of the loading screens during travel. Now OP is complaining about them finding ways to make it more immersive. The gaming community is ridiculous.

Hmm not sure. I guess I'd call it post-apocoliptic fantasy lol. But I know exaxctly what you mean and I love that genre. The Horizon games and even the Witcher books/games fit into this genre.
I just wanted to say that I like this instance. It feels calm, cool, and collected. There is no BS happening here. From what I can see, no one has defederated from us and we have not defederated from anyone else. The rules for the Instance look reasonable. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for keeping it nice here :-).
