"where you come from doesn't matter" says someguy3 in defense of a racist colonist telling someone to go back where they came from while actively living on their land.

Fair point on the vehicle, my mistake.

On your second point, it's not outlandish for me to suggest he find a way to get to court without stealing a vehicle. Public transit, get a ride from a friend, Uber, bicycle are all options. But, yes, if all of those were impossible he could walk. It would not take multiple days to walk a 30 minute drive, but it would probably be an 8 hour walk. Still a better option than stealing a car.

Tbf I don't think this person needed to steal an ambulance to attend his court date. They schedule those months in advance, he had time to figure out a 30 minute trip. I hope no one died because an ambulance was suddenly missing

Mammals eat mammals all the time, think of predators (wolves, bears, lions, tigers) and prey (rabbits, prairie dogs, deer). I don't see any reason why eating a human, or eating something that ate a human, would lead to prion disease.

Good question. I got off Reddit after they banned third party apps, but I should probably get off Lemmy as well.

There were a lot of great things about Reddit that originally led me there, but everything I loved about it was gone by the time I left. I was hoping Lemmy would fill that hole; I was looking for a place for great insights and opinions around niche topics. But Lemmy feels more like a political echo chamber, which is a shame.

The original comment we're responding to is a great example of that. There's no reason for ignorance to be hated like it is here, but dislike and getting on the negative bandwagon is what Lemmy thrives on.

I'll probably be gone soon, and your comments are a big part of that. I genuinely don't mean that as an insult, it's just that you inspired some retrospection introspection. I guess this comment is basically just for myself in the end, but thank you.

I hate this news story. If I wasn't living in this community (Douglas county) I would think it's a good story. However, Douglas county has massive NIMBY policies, including outlawing everything that would allow someone experiencing homelessness anywhere near here. No homeless shelters are legal, no sleeping outside is legal, hell even weed stores are illegal in this massive county, despite it being legal in the majority of the state. Douglas county also created its own health department in protest of mask and vaccine mandates. It's a very affluent deeply conservative pocket in Colorado that makes me sick.

Went to Google Play to complain about Hulu. I noticed Google advertising that over 300 reviews had the verbatim quote "watch and movies that you love". It's always confusing that buggy corporate apps have >95% 5 star reviews until you see that the majority are just completely fake, and no one cares or is doing anything about it.

For context I'm in the US. The last time I used YouTube without an ad blocker, there were 2 ads back to back, and way too frequently. I tried watching on my PlayStation tonight, and not only are they more frequent, *they've increased in quantity by 150%*. It's also very common for the last ad to last 2 minutes to *over an hour long*. What the actual fuck, why would anyone watch YouTube without an ad blocker at this point? It's literally unwatchable Edit: the amount of unsolicited advice in the comments is unreal. I don't get ads on my phone or on desktop, I'm very aware of how to block them. I simply won't watch YouTube on my PlayStation anymore. I'm not looking for suggestions, please stop with the recommendations.

I don't have many people to celebrate with. Part of getting older is celebrating alone, which is sobering and a change of perception. If you're reading this, I hope you're safe. I hope you're with family that loves you, I got you have a friend. The world seems dark, but it truly is safer than ever. Don't give into the media my friend. We're truly in a golden age of information sharing, which makes life terrifying but lucid and evolving.

Has anyone else noticed that the Google Play store reviews are suspicious? Like, you find a scam company or app, and every review you scroll through is 1 star. And yet the reviews claim 95%+ are positive. Is there a way to prove it? I've noticed it for 3 years now, I no longer think it's a coincidence. Something scummy or scammy is going on

Lately I've seen some... Questionable ads, to say the least. Is there no way to report these ads on sync? If there is, am I just dumb and blind? Or is it easier than it seems? It feels like early Reddit all over again to me, hopefully I'm wrong For context, Android user, been here a few months, and I opt out of everything that's easy/simple/apparent to opt out of
