Unfortunately not all features are always available on those ROMs.

One example is GrapheneOS and Google Wallet which I cannot use due to GrapheneOS not being considered "certified software" by the app and therefore not being trusted.

    I have 2 questions:

Do I understand the colors correctly in that /home is deprecated and shouldn't be used? What's the alternative in that case?

Where would you guys put configuration files for services? /srv seems like an adequate directory

I don't think they are really comparable.

Personally I see blender more as an animation or organic modeling tool whereas CAD software like fusion is better when you need exact dimensions for your parts

Mostly ease of management. I have a server on which I run multiple applications. If I don't need something anymore, I can just purge the container. The directories used by that container are clearly listed in my docker-compose file so I never have to wonder whether I purged everything that is now unnecessary.

It also makes it very easy to deploy a new service.

I'm not the guy you replied to.

I originally stored my music in Plex and used Plexamp. I have a large playlist downloaded from youtube which caused horrible performance issues in Plexamp. Navidrome is pretty much a read-only service. It can only read metadata from the files, not add any or manage them. For me this feels safer to expose to the internet since my docker container only has read-only access to all of my files. Even if someone broke into the service for some reason, they couldn't do anything to my files.

I don't know if jellyfin has similar performance issues with large playlists since I already had navidrome set up by then.

I thought about doing it once but decided that PLA/PETG is probably not a good material for the case as I was expecting it to break too easily. TPU probably would work well but I've mever printed it and don't have any. Also I don't have enough experience working with leather for something like this.

The end result from me would have been a lot of spent time for a not very well made item

Honestly, in my opinion it kind of is (though I'm not an expert on it). Except for convenience I don't think a browser should be allowed to access my USB devices. Though I would welcome it if it was enabled with the same kind of request that pops up when a browser wants to access the microphone or camera.

Oh I have it disabled. Pretty much among the first things I do with any new windows install is disable and uninstall as much bullshits as microsoft preloads. It gets pretty annoying though how much there is you have to opt out of. I also like complaining about them so you're not too wrong there.

At least they are still better than samsung in that regard who preload facebook on their phones as a system app thereby preventing the user from uninstalling it.

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask for some help regarding my DNS setup and for routing requests to my selfhosted services. Currently I use Pi-Hole as a DNS server with my routers default DNS server as the upstream server. This allowed me to define local DNS entries using Pi-hole and route my requests to these domains directly to my local services. For example I bought a domain a while ago and in preparation for setting it up, I had it entered as a local DNS entry pointing directly to my servers IP address. Earlier today I finally got around to setting up a cloudflare tunnel to expose one of my services to the outside world using the domain I bought. Ever since I did that, all requests to that domain seem to exit my home network, go through cloudflares network and then return through the tunnel, even though I have a local DNS entry for that domain name. What I would prefer is for the request to be routed directly to my server instead, since I am in the same network already. Since my DNS server is the Pi-Hole, I figured this should happen automatically. Is there an issue with my Pi-Hole setup? If there is any information missing I'll be happy to provide it. I wasn't sure what information I could safely post here. ## Solution I think I managed to fix the problem. After enabling the option `Never forward reverse lookups for private IP ranges` in Pi-Hole and clearing my DNS cache again, nslookup only returns local IP addresses instead of the IPv6 address of two cloudflare servers.

Hey everybody, does anyone know where I can get the [Life is Strange comic volumes](https://www.goodreads.com/series/258477-life-is-strange-comics)? I tried annas-archive and found volume 2,3 and 6. The first one is on there as well but for some reason the filesize is gigantic compared to the rest and the download always fails for me. I know, that the comics are also available as single issues but I would prefer to have the complete volumes. Thanks for your help

    # TLDR at the bottom Hello everyone, I wanted to get some opinions from other people on a topic that is quite important to me. The organization of my digital book collection. I know many people will say to just use calibre when asked how to organize ebooks, but I think this is not really a complete answer. With this post, I thought I'd share my approach to organization, explain its reasons and quirks, and hopefully hear how other people manage their libraries. Maybe you guys have some good ideas for organization which I can copy ;D ## Columns in calibre As probably most other people do, I am using calibre nowadays to manage my library and its metadata. One thing that calibre lacks in its default library setup in my opinion, is a way to group books together that may not be part of the same series, but are part of the same universe. For this purpose, I have added 2 additional custom columns which I call "World" and "World Index". As an example, take the Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. It's a standalone series which takes place in the so called Grishaverse. Other series in the Grishaverse are the Six of Crows and the King of Scars series. To organize these series in my library, I will use the default series column for the book series and fill the custom world column with "Grishaverse". My World Index is basically an arbitrary number for sorting purposes. In the beginning I tried sorting books in chronological order with it, but quickly determined this isn't feasible for more complex series. Nowadays it's a bit more relaxed and basically constitutes my recommended reading order. ## Export to my E-Reader This is probably the part where most people will shake their head at me. I do not use calibre to manage the books and metadata on my e-reader (a Kobo Clara 2E). The reason for this, is that my e-reader only groups books together by series, but I want them grouped by world. So instead I connect calibre to a folder and send the books there. The books are exported in the following scheme: > World/World Index; Series #Series Index - Title - Author My kobo has a plugin called [Autoshelf](https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?s=0654c0803888b4f3847ea5ca845a1b67&t=254554) installed, which when activated will automatically create collections on my device based on the folders the books are stored in and fill out metadata information using regex to parse it from the filename. ## Things I currently don't like Most things I dislike about my current setup come about due to calibre. One thing I still miss from calibre, is the ability to add a single book to multiple series. Although it's rare, I have come across some books which are like this and did not fit into my library properly. Another problem I have is that I like to store all my media on a NAS and manage it using tools hosted on my server. This is not possible with calibre and while people have stored their databases on a network share, it is not a recommended setup since it can lead to database corruption. I am also missing a sort of auto export feature. Currently whenever I add a new book to my library, I have to manually send it to my export folder so that it has the correct filename and folder structure for my e-reader to handle. When I update the title or other metadata, I have to delete the book from that folder and resend it. My final issue is with the kobo software/the autoshelf plugin itself. My previous device was a tolino, which natively supported collections based on folders. This is not the case on kobo, which instead wants to rely on embedded series metadata. This would obviously not work for my approach which is why I need the Autoshelf plugin mentioned above. While the autoshelf approach works, it can only group books which have already been imported and the process is only triggered when the connection to a PC is disconnected. This means, that I have to plug my device in twice, first to transfer the books and let them be imported and a second time to trigger the autoshelving process. ## TLDR My books are managed using calibre. Custom columns are added to enable additional groupings by world and reading order in case there are multiple series playing in the same universe. Export to my kobo e-reader is done manually to keep the world groupings using the Autoshelf plugin.
