One of the major features is defederation. While you don’t have to have a walled garden, your instance gets to choose who it joins to. And I’d rather not join to threads as we’ve seen what Mets does with open protocols.

  • misguidedfunk misguidedfunk Now 100%

I don’t think you will ever convince the ones voting for those policies. You need to convince the ones not voting that candidates actually care for their well being and inspire them to believe their vote matters. Our voter turnout remains low because most feel their vote doesn’t matter.

  • misguidedfunk misguidedfunk Now 100%

I honestly think the infrastructure bill is the message that needs to be pounded into their ears. So many rural areas are absolutely crumbling from an infrastructure perspective. Literally everything is old, crumbling, and jobs are leaving. Democrats need to point out where the money for projects came from and where the new jobs came from. Then build off that. Representatives always have to run off of constituents saying, what have you done for me lately? Show them and plan for their future, cause the republicans don’t have anything but identity politics.

Let’s be honest, they are not choosing that. Interest groups and their leaders are and it’s being disseminated to the populace through their mass media arms. Their voters have been conditioned to accept only the most extreme and conservative view because of a lack of opposing viewpoint that comes from their own communities. Democrats are always seen as the Other in rural areas largely because of the rural/urban divide and the fact the Democrats do not market their platform to rural voters. Even when they run candidates here it’s very rarely they actually run on how to improve people’s lives here.

  • I wanted to start a thread to share some of my favorite blogs and cookbooks. I hope we can use this thread to share new blogs or cookbooks as they become available. Cookbooks Patti Jinich- [Treasures of the Mexican Table](https://patijinich.com/cookbook/treasures-of-the-mexican-table/) This is a fantastic cookbook that’s broadened my understanding of Mexican cuisine. The Achiote Chicken in particular is always a crowd pleaser. [The Woks of life](https://thewoksoflife.com/) blog and cookbook has been in the rotation of our weekly meals for some time now. I originally tried their chicken and brocolli recipe as our local Chinese restaurant is not that great. I have come to love their ultimate chili oil. It’s kinda like the Frank’s Red Hots commercial- I put it on everything. Blogs I love these two blogs, as they are fantastic introductions to Japanese and Korean cooking. [Just one cookbook](https://www.justonecookbook.com/) The Oyakdon recipe from here might be one of my favorite meals hands down. Simple, easy to throw together and great flavor. [Korean Bapsang](https://www.koreanbapsang.com/) The bibimbap recipe is a great starting point to introduce yourself to Korean cuisine. I wasn’t a huge fan of it while I lived there, but it has really grown on me since returning to the States. Edit: [future dish](https://futuredish.com/fresh-kimchi-geotjeori-incredible-10-minute-recipe/) has a fantastic fresh kimchi recipe that lives in our fridge. It tastes exactly like my lunch ladies in Korea made. Most of their stuff is tasty.
