This was shot from a bortle 5 zone. Actually not even a tripod was used, just my phone leaned against my wallet on the roof of my car because I needed the tripod for my real equipment. No lens also.

I wonder what more modern phones can achieve as they have bigger sensors.

    Sure, prompt was:

photo of poor young asian female workers in a factory assembling tech products, award winning photography, dirty environment

But the image was quite altered with inpainting as there were many flaws.

  • My thinking behind this image is that just like in real life people only want to look at a company from far apart to see its shiny surface. But only at a closer look the dirty and shady practices will get revealed. Created with SD1.5 and QR Code Monsters.

My lens is f2.8. Of course the bigger the aperture the better, but as Andromeda is really bright a slower lens will work just fine. As I‘m only a beginner myself I can recommend the Youtube channel ‚nebula photos‘.

I think with your equipment you could achieve an even better image, I really can only encourage everyone to try this. It really is an awesome experience

  • Inspired by many others we tried to capture M31 with our own equipment, an old Fuji camera with a 80mm lens. The only additional tool we used for this shot was a cheap used star tracker so we could expand each shot to 20s. We captured a total of 411 shots which leads to a total exposure time of about 2h17m. For our first try we are very pleased with the result!

First try of shooting Andromeda. The picture is more of an art image as I added a tilt shift effect. 41 x 25s lights 80mm ISO 3200

Yes exactly. The idea is basically the same as PWM, but in this case the frequency is given through the 50Hz of the power grid. You just control how much of each half wave you turn the light on. As our eyes are slow we just conceive it as an overall lower brightness.

Yes it is a led light bulb working on 230 ac. This works like any other triac phase dimmer, but it was indeed a fun project to try for yourself! Basically I build a another shelly device, but for far less money ;)

This is the prototype of my dimmer, which actually works quite well. It fades smoothly between different brightness settings. It gets MQTT messages from homebridge, so it can be controlled via Apples Homekit.
