Loved this read, thanks for sharing. A good illustration of how chasing an issue with a quick solution can lead to bigger issues.

I’ve only been in a couple non-gendered communal bathrooms and it was a little odd, but only because I wasn’t used to it. The actual mechanics of it were basically the same as a normal bathroom. Go into a stall and do your business then come out and wash your mitts.
I don’t have a problem with it being the standard. I guess I wouldn’t think it would be a good idea for high schoolers because they’re always in heat.

I know some people from Clearwater and I think they’d just say “this is our community and our home”. It doesn’t make logical sense, but I’d say a lot about the town a person decides to live in is emotional over practical (unless you move somewhere for a job).

Thanks for bringing this up. I think I’ve heard this too and I have to say I’m of two minds about it.
In one end… I am frustrated with Reddit’s greed and I think they’ve lost most of my respect at this point. I think I’m kinda bitter toward them, so seeing them lose market share might bring me a bit of schadenfreude.
On the other hand, Reddit’s content quality really feels like it’s gone to crap in the last 5-6 years or so. When I came to Lemmy (and Mastodon), it was refreshing because the community seemed to have a bit of that scrappy, fringe attitude that I missed from early Reddit. I’d be sad if that went away due to over-population.
Basically, I like Lemmy and I want it to be even more successful so that algorithms have less control on our lives. At the same time, I dislike Reddit because they’re going whole-hog into enshittification. I guess I just convinced myself that I want Lemmy to continue to grow ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I like to upvote posts with lots of debate around them even if so don’t agree with the OP because I want the OP to be encouraged. People should be rewarded for bringing thought-provoking content here, even if it’s imaginary points.

Looks to me like they work as a developer of the Salesforce platform for a company called Penrod.
Doesn’t make them any less of an idiot, but #justsayin
And yeah, Salesforce is a garbage fire of a company.

“fucking stupid”
Table saw to get straight sides. Belt sander to get a curve to the blade tip. The spine doesn’t have a curve like a traditional bokken, but that doesn’t keep me from tucking this bad boy into my belt loop and walking around the house like a samurai :)
So incredibly excited to see this community! I haven’t played Balatro yet because isn’t currently on a platform I have access to, but I found out about the game from a Youtuber I like who talks about heat indie games. So excited to see this community grow and hope one day the game will come to iOS.

Was just browsing my favorite communities, commenting on posts I found really interesting, and engaging with other users who wanted to have conversations. … and not a single paid ad in my feed. I effing love this platform.
