Roblox is seemingly exempt from Apple’s screen time blocks

I am a firm believer in teaching children to use technology in moderation. My kids have better boundaries with their tablets than most adults I know. But then shit like this happens and it’s a good reminder that capitalists are intentionally addicting children to their platforms in order to increase their profits by a fraction of a percent. Also, if your kid is naive enough to believe that only fellow children play Roblox, they do not have the skills needed to navigate Roblox safely and they *are* being unknowingly exposed to pedophiles on a regular basis.

Sorry I didn’t post this sooner. I posted last week about being in a hard spot and between all the donations, we got more than I’d expected, which was enough to fill our fridge and pantry as well as that of another family who has a lot of kids in and out for various reasons. So you all essentially fed 8 people for 2 weeks and then some. Needless to say there was a lot of crying. Bills are still tight, but it’s a manageable tight. I probably could have used to excess to catch up on those, but it didn’t feel right to not share when we knew other parents who were skipping meals to feed kids who weren’t even their own. Not to mention that’s what people sent it for. I also used this as an opportunity to talk to my kids about mutual aid, which was neat. Can’t thank you all enough. I’m hoping to be in a position to return the favor sooner rather than later.

We’ve got 2 adults and 3 kids in the house, and 2 more kids in the evening on school days. We had a bunch of financial emergencies in a row on top of Christmas at the end of last year, so we pinpointed which bills would go through even if our account was in the negative and we’ve been overdrawing our account by like a thousand dollars a pay period. Paying our bills, then withdrawing the money while it was clearing. This was working well enough that each paycheck we’d be in the hole less and less. Then my job decided to switch the payroll schedule and withhold a week of pay. And a lot of our utilities are already on payment plans so if they get shut off again we’ll need the full amount to get them back on. Luckily, they can’t shut off our heat for a couple more months because of the cold. TLDR is we’ve got just enough money to keep our water running and lights on OR buy groceries for 2 weeks, but not both. I tried to pick one of my sparser alts, but my PayPal still has personal info in it, so if anyone can offer some help, please DM me Edit: y’all made me and my partner cry.
