Bill’s brings the people together! It’s one of the only places you’ll see a brand new Mercedes parked next to a beat up 1990 Mercury Sable.

Super cool idea, and it’s only in Ann Arbor for now!
Hopefully the service works out for the caregivers and those needing care so that it can expand to more areas in the future.

Hey! Yes, as part of disconnecting from Reddit a month or so ago, I noticed there weren't any A2 communities on Lemmy yet.
So I started my little community and have been working on breathing life into it ever since. I figure that good, vibrant communities with consistent activity will be very important to people looking for alternatives to Reddit in the future. I'm focused on being the change I want to see in the world 🙂
I'll keep putting in the work over there -- it's good to be decentralized in case one of our instances goes offline. These are still early days for Lemmy, so I expect a little instability in the coming months.
You guys are doing great over here! Keep it up.

This is important given the recently highlighted racial disparity in traffic stops.
The police can still mail tickets, if appropriate. No need to stop anyone for something minor.

Adding to the chorus of voices telling you to get a Sonoff stick.
The Conbee II is very old at this point and shouldn’t be used for new setups.

What’s an instance?
An instance is a specific website running Lemmy or another piece of federated software. For example, lemmy.world and lemmy.ml are two distinct instances
What’s a community?
A community is the "sub-reddit" of Lemmy. Kbin uses the word "magazines", but these are the same thing.
What are federations?
A federation is a group of instances sharing posts and activity data with each other so that it can be displayed to their respective end users. For example, I can post to a community on lemmy.world and then you will be able to see my post when you are browsing feddit.de.
Whats the difference between all these?
Let me know if you have additional questions based on my answers above.
What’s mastodon?
Mastodon is a piece of federated software that is built to look and feel like Twitter, similar to how Lemmy is built to look and feel like Reddit.
What’s Kbin?
Kbin.social is a website you can use to browse posts from the Fediverse. From what I understand, it is similar to Reddit as well.
What’s ActivityPub?
ActivityPub is the underlying protocol that Lemmy, Mastodon, and other pieces of federated software use to communicate with each other. This is how they notify each other of new posts, comments, upvotes, etc so they can stay in sync with each other.

Nice, I missed that! I have Apple TVs in every room at my place, so that's a big upgrade for me.
I worry about your mental health if you implement your button though 😆

Sounds like maybe there's a little refinement needed for that functionality but, like you said, it's a step in the right direction!

Lots of cool stuff in this release. I could see some very cool automations being built using the new service responses.

Blue LLama Jazz Club, The Earle, Weber’s Restaurant and Paesano Restaurant and Wine Bar have all been recognized for their quality of wine services in a new list created by Wine Spectator. The awards recognize restaurants that offer wine lists with “interesting” selections that are “appropriate” to the meals they serve and can appeal to a range of wine drinkers, according to Wine Spectator’s website.
I know the article doesn't mention Ann Arbor, but I figured it's relevant for folks going on the river.
Like the article suggests, I'm not entirely sure we're better on paper than last year. Obviously there's more to a good hockey team than being good on paper though. What are everyone's thoughts?
Let's gooo!!! I can finally wash my Costco hot dog down with a nice Mothfire beer from just across the street.
All, I come to you with a request. Though I enjoy hiking and the outdoors, I am plagued with incredibly flat feet that get painfully sore after only a few miles of walking. I'd like to enjoy the outdoors more, but the pain builds and builds until it's no longer enjoyable for me to walk and explore. Part of the issue is that I don't own shoes suitable for such activities -- I mostly wear Vans and other similar flat, wide shoes. Does anyone here have a similar issue? If so, what are your recommendations for good hiking shoes for a person in my situation? I would call myself a beginner when it comes to hiking, so they don't need to be anything too fancy, but I'm willing to spend a decent amount to mitigate my stupid feet. Thank you!
