I prefer pull vs push media. Less intrusive. I have a feeling lemmy users may also like RSS feeds for the control it provides. I know in mastodon you decide who to follow, but the whole culture to encourage re-blogging means a lot of potential unwanted crap in our feeds.

I’m still very bitter about the broken electoral reform promise.

As far as TV shows: The Expanse and Foundation. I really want to like them but the first 3-4 episodes left me quite meh. Someone tell me it’s a slow start and gets better?
I tend to put more priority to story line vs special effects or action scenes.

They may sell a package for all streams like the NHL does? Not sure. It’s a 24 game season so would make sense.
Original Six! Looking forward to supporting them.

I had to create a “if you add one, you sell one” rule after running out of shelf space.

You raise good points. The expensive part for me was the discovery aspect. Once you know what you like it’s not bad but the learning part…trying all the different greens and oolongs and pu’er and black teas - that was a little nuts at the beginning.
Now I have about 10 varieties that I like for different occasions and I stick to those and it’s not too bad.
Biggest splurge for me was an ember mug. Im a little embarrassed by how expensive it was, but honestly no regrets. Perfect temp tea for hours.

I have! …then full circle back to grandpa style. I still use a gaiwan from time to time on the weekend but I like bringing a container up with me at my desk without needing to refill constantly.

Similar but different : tea! You go from cheap bagged tea to going down the rabbit hole of loose leaf variations, temp control kettles, brewing vessels and brewing styles.

🫡 Thank you for sending me down a rabbit hole of early Federation days which made me rediscover Tellarites.

I don’t get a ton of satisfaction or have patience learning rules of complex games anymore. I decided to embrace games that have tough choices but with super simple mechanics instead.
Games like Scout, The Crew, Wingspan…easy to teach and fun to master.

I’m with you! The show wasn’t perfect but it was cool to see a crew explore before the prime directive , stable transporters and the federation. Tons of opportunities to explore that further.

I mix them. Not sure if this is weird or common. Honey Nut Cheerios and Rice Krispies are a good combo. Vectors with Rice Krispies too. Alone: Golden Grahams.

Agreed. I find myself using Siri on walks via AirPods quite a bit. Siri what’s the weather going to be like tonight . Siri what’s in my calendar tomorrow. Siri what’s the latest news. (That opens up podcast app and plays local news I love it. ). Siri let me know when it’s 12:30. I just wish it got better at answering simple questions. A few articles mentioned Apple started looking at incorporating a GPT style AI with Siri.

Little things that make solo hikes even more enjoyable:
- Merlin Bird Sound ID app.
- Bringing one piece of hard candy with you
- If you must listen to something, get earphones with a transparency setting where you can still hear birds and leaves crunching under your feet
- A dog
Reached out to mod, who appears to have been inactive for the last two months, and haven’t heard back. Would like to volunteer taking community over as mod. Currently recruiting help from other Sens fans. !ottawasenators@lemmy.ca
I posted something, received a notification someone replied, but when I click on my original message the comment isn’t there. Even after swiping to refresh. If I go on the browser and go to Lemmy.ca I do see the comment. I have checked my settings and don’t see why it would possibly be hidden.
We had a chat at work about the good old days where ISPs were local startups. I was with Magma, he was with Primus. We were trying to find the other ones that were out there ! Help us remember Lemmy!
This link was shared by our non profit community radio station. It’s a great way to get news that would never make the national headlines.
The Ottawa Puzzled Pint chapter has been running for 7 years. It’s a monthly newbie-friendly nerdy event that’s free. It’s not competitive. Next event is August 8. Runs every second Tuesday of every month. The location changes every month and you have to solve an online puzzle (posted the Friday before) to find out where we meet.
I don’t love flavoured teas so I buy plain tea bags and spruce them up with flavoured simple syrup instead. There are a lot of syrup recipes out there, but a lot of them aren’t great with black tea. I combined recipes, made modifications and these two are my faves. Hope you try and enjoy!

Why are certain communities showing previews and some not? Is this wefwef being picky about url format or an instance setting?
Why is it that some communities show a video/site preview and some don’t? Is it an instance setting? Image example of one where it’s not working as you would expect.
Guessing it’s only the community creator that can do this? Special request to be one of the cool kids with a pretty icon :P
