I think low voted comments still get pushed to the bottom though, is that not right?

This has basically been our spring and summer for 4 of the last 5 summers in Alberta. Just awful

Jerboa or just in the browser. Honestly though most people's issues are likely to be because they joined a huge instance which is falling over due to load. Consider making a new account on a smaller instance.

I feel like what you're referring to is higher order thought. Do you think that beings might exist in this universe that are beyond our thought process? Would they view us as lacking a "soul" like we would view insects as lacking a soul?

Is this different than firing someone over their social media posts or inappropriate conduct captured on video? To me it does, but I'm not sure I can articulate why. Am I being a hypocrite?

Isn't there something with disco elysium and whoever is profiting off of it now is not the original creators?

Right, why participate if it's just going to be buried under the mountain of other content.

I'd imagine you're rather unique. I have a hard time imagining atheists believing in something as nebulous as a soul.
EDIT: Please don't downvote OP, if anything this is a more interesting discussion thread than just "No, we're just meat and electricity"

Unfortunate. Although maybe I should have a look at the API

Yeah thinking of going over to another instance. Anyone know how easy it is to migrate subscriptions from one instance to another?

Yep that's exactly what I was trying to convey. It does feel like the early internet days when everything was just a bit broken and streamlined UX was not at the forefront of tech. The primary users were the geeks that could figure this stuff out.

My understanding is there isn't one Lemmy. There are lots of instances, but they all talk to each other. I.e. they share the posts and comments their users make. If an instance becomes problematic then other instances will choose to stop receiving updates from them. So users of the bad instance can still see the content and comment on it, but other users won't see the content from those users.

I kind of like the lower comment count. It sucks when there are literally no comments, but for me, I'm much more inclined to leave a comment when there aren't too many already. Plus I found most comments were really low effort jokes. For every well thought out comment, there were a million 'this' type comments.
Question above. Right now if I try to install nightly and I have stable installed I get prompted to update. Are we going to be able to have both installed simultaneously?
I've been absolutely loving treesitter. It's come a long way and it's been absolutely great for things like folds, motions, highlights of course. Now that I've finally gotten familiar with writing my own queries I can extend the existing plugins. As an example I've added folds to blocks of multiple consecutive comments in JS and Ruby. What are some of your favorites?
Why is there a !yyc community as well as a !Calgary one? I've posted a bunch on the yyc community, but most posts didn't have too much discussion. How active is this one and would it make sense to merge them somehow?
I'm looking for something can put on top of an existing table that would turn it into a nice surface to play a boardgame on? I've looked and I see a lot of poker table toppers, but not as much stuff for general purpose boardgaming.
From someone who posted on the other site >Thank you for contacting Wizards of the Coast Customer Service! The issue with the Mastery Pass not granting Uncommon ICRs on Levels 70 and higher has been reported to the Arena development team. Players who are missing Uncommon ICRs will be receiving a grant sometime in the near future. Thank you for your patience while this is being worked on.
I haven't been able to find an MTGA focused community. Anybody able to point me in the right direction?
Turns out she's not banned, just bad at using Facebook? Did she forget to log in or something?
After waiting 5 months for my order I finally got a copy and boy does it live up to the hype. What a terrific way to map the feeling of racing a car around the track into a boardgame. Pretty easy to teach too, had both my wife and my 10-year-old playing within 10 minutes. Lots of stuff in the box as well to expand the base playing experience.
