Dominican Republic 'to deport up to 10,000 migrants a week'

You're 100% right. There is no way this action doesn't cause harm.

That said, what should they do?

Sometimes I would sit in a noodle bar and just watch NPC's come and go. It really does feel like this game got so close to a living, breathing world, but there just wasn't enough hours put into the small details of certain areas.

I think it was a motion sensor at one point. The face plate fell off and it had the standard blurred plastic that is on most of them.

Honestly I have no idea where they terminate. The keypad doesn't work. I've tried pressing buttons on it before and nothing happens. I was going to cut and cap the wires, but figured I'd double check ahead of time.

I have other electrical work I need done, so may just lump this into the same work order.

I tested this with an electrical socket reader and it chimed, so there is some power to it still. I'd like to remove this, the old keypad, a siren, etc. Besides shutting off the power while doing it and maybe capping the cable ends, what do I need to think about? I'm just trying to make sure I don't burn my house down 😅

  • Could Global Warming cause societies to become nocturnal?
  • kinther kinther Now 100%

We don't grow our crops in a desert. They grow in very specific regions of the world, often in areas that are suitable due to natural formations and easily obtainable water. Most of Canada is forested land that is uninhabited with no infrastructure such as roads, running water, or electricity - not to mention there has never been a large agricultural presence in those areas, so it would have to be started from scratch, if it is possible at all.

When you say we'll huddle around the proverbial fires, it might be a very small human population. Our civilization (likely including both of us) probably won't be around at that point.

Plants don't grow without light. Plants can't survive extreme heat and drought.

Once it gets too hot or too dry to grow crops, it won't matter anymore. Call me a doomer, but we aren't doing enough to stop that future from happening.

I disagree that leaving things unsaid is the best approach to online discussion, especially when it comes to soundbite level social media like Lemmy and Reddit. Doing this puts forth the position that only one thing needs to be said, which is underhanded and intellectually dishonest.

You're absolutely right that both mainstream parties in the US are closely related in policy, so it is a failure of those arguing against the Israeli genocide to not call this what it is: a governmental policy problem, not a single party problem. Saying "democrat bad, support Israeli genocide" while ignoring the opposite party just because it is not in power is a failure to point out the root cause of the issue. If we don't want to support any genocide, we need to make sure that no matter what party is in power, it doesn't happen.

I'll ignore the fact that you disagree with their economic policies for now and continue to focus on the fact that this is a systematic issue, not one that is beholden to one party or the other.
